Snapchat
SnapChat Company Overview SnapChat is a photo messaging application (App) developed by Evan
Spiegel and Robert Murphy. Both of the founders were Stanford students. The application was initially
developed for a project at Stanford. This app allows the user to share photos, videos, add
text/drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. Users have the benefit of setting a time
limit for how long the recipient can view their snaps (Ranging from 1 10 seconds), after which the
photos/videos will be hidden from the recipient s device and deleted from SnapChat s servers. The
smalltime college project developed into a huge social media success due to its innovative feature
(Magid, 2013). SnapChat is one of the fastest growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primary Research We surveyed random individuals using Qualtrics to gather primary data for our
research. Forty nine individuals responded to our survey, out of which twenty seven were valid
surveys we used for testing. Our survey consisted of the below questions: Have you heard of
SnapChat? Are you a SnapChat user? Gender? Age? How long have you known about SnapChat? Do
you know about Facebook s offer to SnapChat? How did you hear about SnapChat? Will you
recommend SnapChat to others? Did you start using SnapChat before or after Facebook s offer?
Correlations Testing Twenty seven individuals were surveyed to determine for how many months do
they use SnapChat in comparison to their age and if there is a relationship between age and usage of
social media apps such as SnapChat. A Pearson s analysis revealed a moderate negative correlation, r=
.38. Age does have a relation with the number months individuals used SnapChat, as confidence level
in our testing is .049, which is lower than 0.05. The results are reported in Exhibit 1. We chose
Correlations testing as our primary method of testing because our data fit this type of testing and
provided the results we required for our research. Exhibit 1 One Way ANOVA Testing A one way
ANOVA testing was conducted to determine if there is any relationship between gender and the usage
of social media apps, such as SnapChat. Independent variable was Gender, whereas the dependent

Malignant Brain Tumors
Malignant gliomas are the most common type of primary brain tumors. As already shown in the
Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States (CBTRUS) report from 1998 2002, gliomas
account for approximately 80 % of all malignant brain tumors and at least 30 % of all brain and CNS
neoplasms (Ostrom et al., 2014). A number of putative risk factors that have been associated with
brain tumors have been discussed. However, there is no clear cause for brain and CNS tumors. Less
that 1 % are linked to lifestyle or environmental factors (Parkin, Boyd, Walker, 2011). The only
exposure that has been shown to affect glioma risk is ionizing radiation and has been classified as a
cause by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) (Cogliano ... Show more content on

About 22,400 gliomas are diagnosed each year in the U.S. of which approximately 12,075 are
glioblastomas. The incidence rate is 3,19 per 100,000 persons per year and rises with increasing age.
The median age of diagnosis is 64 years and has been reported to be higher in men compared to
women (Ostrom et al., 2013).
Like others, glioblastomas can develop either de novo as primary GBM or through the progression of
lower grade astrocytoma (secondary GBM) (Peiffer Kleihues, 1999). With about 90 %, primary GBM
account for the vast majority. The two types are hardly distinguishable from a histological point of
view, but show differences concerning their genetic and epigenetic profiles. With regard to this,
primary glioblastomas are characterized by EGFR amplification and PTEN mutations whereas
secondary GBM show genetic alterations in TP53 for instance (Ohgaki Kleihues, 2007, 2013). In
addition, mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) 1 are claimed to be frequent in secondary
glioblastoma, thus used to be a genetic marker for these (Ohgaki Kleihues, 2013). Furthermore GBM
can also be classified into four different subtypes on the basis of gene expression. These include the
classical, mesenchymal, neural and proneural

Research Questions On Nursing Practice
The aim of this paper is to formulate a PICOT question and describe how important this research
question is to nursing practice. It will include a summary of five research articles related to my PICOT
question and identify a nursing practice that is supported by current research. The paper will also
explain how a nursing practice that is supported by evidence based practice can contribute to better
outcomes. Lastly, I will share a strategy to share evidence based practice throughout my organization
and explain the importance of the practice.

Our organization uses benzodiazepines as the first choice for the treatment of AWS. Formulating a
PICOT question can help my organization find if evidence best practice supports the use of
benzodiazepines for the treatment of AWS. Therefore, I will introduce you my PICOT question which
is: In patients that are withdrawing from alcohol, what is the effect of benzodiazepines, compared to
other drugs in the treatment for AWS?
Evidence Based Practice The study by Amato, Minozzi and Davoli (2011) examined five randomized
controlled trials to find an efficient and safe medication to treat AWS. The study which had a total of
7333 patients concluded that benzodiazepines were better for controlling seizures when compared to a
placebo and antipsychotics (Amato et al., 2011). When comparing benzodiazepines versus
anticonvulsants, researchers concluded that the benzodiazepine chlordiazepoxide had better outcomes.
No other studies were found which would compare the effectiveness among benzodiazepines for the
treatment of AWS. The study by Askgaard, Hallas, Fink Jensen, Molander, Madsen, and Pottegard
(2016) compared how effective the antipsychotic phenobarbital is when compared to the
benzodiazepine chlordiazepoxide. The study involved a total of 2428 patients who had AWS; 1063
patients were treated with chlordiazepoxide, and 1365 patients were treated with phenobarbital
(Askgaard et al., 2016). Researchers

Boomers And Intergenerational Communication
Introduction
Communication is the exchange of information or ideas between two or more parties. Workplace
communication is that exchange operating inside the workplace, and is a topic of consistent
importance. New media is regularly integrated, new studies are completed about different personality
characteristics, and varying ages leave and enter the workforce. This report provides a summary of
findings about intergenerational communication in the workplace, specifically between Boomers, born
between 1946 and 1964, Generation X, born between 1965 and 1980, and Millennials, or Generation
Y, born between 1981 and 1997 for Eller, Inc. s use in an upcoming project (CNN Library). Details
about each generation s communication preferences, strengths, weaknesses, and integration of the
communication methods of the three generations can be found throughout.
Communication Preferences
Boomers
Baby Boomers lean towards more traditional methods of communication in the workplace. Although
they are generally familiar with email and the internet, Boomers tend to prefer communication via
face to face meetings or by phone (Morris, 2013). Perine offers similar information, stating that
meetings are the best means of brainstorming, creating solutions to problems, and discussing business
propositions. Further, maintenance of established hierarchical roles is important to Boomers, as well
as direct conversations with details and facts (Perine, 2012). According to De La Torre,
communication that

Three Causes Of The Bhopal Chemical Plant Disaster In 1984
Introduction Three causes of the Bhopal Chemical Plant disaster happening in India in 1984 were long
term financial difficulties, poor safety management and inadequate emergency plans. The disaster
occurred when water entered a methyl isocyanate (MIC) storage tank, which led to a runaway reaction
and then discharged toxic MIC vapour into the atmosphere. The leak caused the death of more than
2,000 people and the health effects on about 200,000 locals in the surrounding shanty towns (Kletz
2009, p. 338). Long term financial difficulties One cause of the Bhopal chemical disaster was long
term financial difficulties, resulting in limited training and inadequate maintenance. limited training
According to Joseph, Kaszniak and Long (2005, p. 544), prior to the disaster, the company had been
facing a financial crisis for many years because the sale of pesticides had been fallen. Mannan (2012,
p. 2649) points out that due to the budget cuts, many plant operators received insufficient training on
operations and safety awareness. As shown in figure 1, there was a decrease in the length of training
programmes for plant operators from 18 months in 1975 to only one month in December 1984, which
is mentioned by Chouhan (2005, p. 207). Therefore, Chouhan (2005, p. 207) indicates that without the
knowledge of runaway reactions occurring in the storage tank when the accident happened, many
workers could not immediately take any emergency action to lessen the risk of the MIC escape from

Attending School As An Educated Fellow Of Society
There are numerous different methods to receive an education, and become an educated fellow of
society. Attending school may guide an individual in becoming a portion of an educated society.
Moreover, individuals seeking a further education may consider attending school. In order to remain
in school the students must consider receiving respectable grades. An individual s grades reflect the
determination the student committed to every course. Furthermore, there are three simple suggestions
a college or university student needs to recognize to obtain an A or a respectable grade. Students either
may decide to dedicate the time and determination, or decided to be unsuccessful. Most college or
university students attend school to become successful. Students struggling to remain in school or
receive respectable grades are the ones who may consider embracing these suggestions and
acknowledge them. Nevertheless, these suggestions may influence grades the students receives now,
or what grades the students may obtain in future courses. Students who decided to take this direction
in their schooling may benefit in their future, or grantee students acceptable grades. Time is not
slowing down for any student, so acquiring a respectable grade the first time taking a course is critical.
Therefore, to succeed in school it is required for an individual to attend class and remain focused on
the material, but also remember to study substantially.

The Importance Of Public Health
Public health is defined as the overall health of a population as whole that is often monitored and
regulated by the state. Public health regulations can affect the community in their work, homes, and
overall everyday life (What is Public Health?, 2017). This can include holding health fairs, ensuring
places of employment are up to code, and vaccinations of children and elders in the given community.
Those who work in the public health field actively works to ensure the health of the public is
maintained and held to a standard that allows people to effectively live within a given community.
Personal health is the regulation and overall health of an individual separate from the community in
which they live. This differs from public health because all though the personal health can affect the
assessment of public health, public health focuses on the entire community not isolating a single
person but using all the data collected from everyone to assess and develop ways to help the entire
population. Public health interventions and seminars will be based on the data collected for the
individuals because this is how the public health workers will be able to find out the challenges they
face and how to better serve the community. For example, if teen pregnancy is higher in a certain
neighborhood resulting in many teens dropping out of school the public health workers would respond
by giving out free contraceptives and providing parents agree they may also hold safe sex lectures.

Spectacles have always been a great means to convey the opinion of the majority to the public. For
example, starting in the 1820 s white actors would blacken their face and act has black people in a
comedy skit known as the minstrel shows. The blackface gimmick was first used by white people to
enhance the racial stereotypes against black persons in order to limit their growing power in society.
The white actors were soon replaced by black actors who inherited the white s stereotypes and

The Causes And Cures Of Schizophrenia
The causes, cures and intellectual comprehension in schizophrenia patients remains unknown.
Scientists have discovered that schizophrenia is a severe condition that develops by a combination of
biological, environmental, and unforeseen factors. Since this condition effects no more than two
percent of the population, it is challenging to find an adequate sample size for assessments and further
study. People suffering from schizophrenia are incapable of determining reality and show a wide array
of symptoms varying from delusions, hallucinations, irrational conduct and disorganized speech. The
complex severity of these symptoms make it difficult for scientists to find a remedy that works for all
patients. Recent studies have shown that identical twins have an increased risk of developing the
condition. The risk is increased by half in comparison to individuals who do not carry twin genetics.
Many wonder if schizophrenia is caused by a physical abnormality inside the brain, but it has not been
scientifically proven yet. Since twins are at the highest at risk for schizophrenia, it is essential to study
the behaviors, patterns and recovery methods of these patients.
A study conducted by Michael Harms suggests that one of the causes of Schizophrenia is determined
by the structure of the thalamus and a reduction in volume of the hippocampus. In the current study,
we assessed the volume and shape of the thalamus in subjects with schizophrenia and their
nonpsychotic siblings. The

The Woman Warrior
Beginnings as Applied to The Woman Warrior The beginning of Maxine Hong Kingston s novel, The
Woman Warrior, introduces various themes that recur throughout the story. Through the anecdotes
Kingston shares about her childhood as a Chinese girl growing up in America, she discusses gender
inequality and conflict due to a generation gap and a difference in cultures. By starting off with a story
that her mother, Brave Orchid, told her about her dead and forgotten aunt, Kingston applies the
techniques suggested in the chapter Beginnings in Technique in Fiction, igniting the readers curiosity
and tying the memoir together. Kingston begins the novel in media res, or in the middle of things

Kingston slips this into the chapter by guessing that her dead aunt s child is female since there is some
hope of forgiveness for boys (Kingston 15). The subject of gender inequality shows up throughout the
novel, such as when Kingston s great uncle takes only the boys out to town, fully aware that the girls
want to come, but leaving them at home hanging [their] coats back up (47). This issue is a global one;
even in modern times, women are seen as inferior to men. In this memoir, gender inequality is one of
the issues that Kingston is attempting to point out to us. Although not all of the readers are Chinese
American, Kingston transcends the cultural barrier to speak to the reader about her experiences with
gender inequality and conflict. In the end of the novel, Kingston references another story Brave
Orchid told her about a poetess named Ts ai Yen. Similarly to how Kingston rises above barriers to
speak to her reader about how certain issues affected her childhood self, Ts ai Yen is able to overcome
a language barrier to make barbarians understand her emotions through a song she sings. In this way,
by integrating gender inequality into the beginning of the novel, Kingston is able to tie the novel
together, and ensure that the beginning has the seeds of finality in it (Macauley and Lanning

depicted events that have happened in the past through the artists eyes. In these works we can see
many styles and types of art that display the artist mood, feelings, reactions and perspective. The early
beginnings of Rome and the struggles that occurred are seen in Jacques Louis David early paintings.
He used neoclassic style to portray these vivid scenes of the brutality Roman people faced during its

of Rome during the first half of the empire, he then related these pictures to some events that David
experienced throughout his life. Jacques Louis David was born in France in 1749, when he was nine
years old his father was killed in a dual, his mother then left him with his two wealthy uncles who
raised him for the following years. At a young age he was gifted in basic art skills and styles with an

How The Treatment Can Be Worse Than The Actual Ailment Or...
There has been research conducted that shows how the treatment can be worse than the actual ailment
or disorder. In the early 1900s surgeon and researcher William Coley, put a passive bacteria into one
of his cancer patients, which became known as the Coley s toxin (Nybo, 2015). The toxin caused the
tumor to reduced in size and the patients who took the medication remained cancer free. When other
studies were done it showed that having the anti tumor showed that several bacteria selectively attach
to a solid tumor. The bacteria attached itself to the tumor cell which killed off some of the tumor cells
and showed that using a bacteria, in this case the Salmonella bacteria that it can help make an
improvement finding a cure for cancer. With different bacteria s tested, one of the more promising
bacteria was Salmonella enterica that showed a good sign of being used for cancer treatment.
However using the bacteria can cause some other problem like food poising, it usually happens after
you have eaten bad food that has either spoiled or can also occur if meat is not fully cooked. However
new research studies done have shown with some modifications the Salmonella bacteria can actually
reduce or kill the cancer cell. In another study done in Senior Siegfried Weiss decided to reduce the
Salmonella enterica by getting rid of some of the Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) synthesis which is
essentially a molecule where lipids and polysaccharides are linked together. LPS can cause sepsis

Subject of Study and Importance of the Theory of...
DEFINITION, SCOPE OF STUDY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE THEORY OF
ARCHITECTURE.
What is it thinking? Thinking is an activity we do naturally and spontaneously, each moment, every
day, all human beings around the world during our stay ephemeral passing on this earth.
The reality is something we can perceive with the senses, but the reality is something hidden that will
not perceive the senses.
To any reality we get a lot of questions: what, why, for whom is, by whom, etc.. We ask for things we
do not perceive the senses. For this explains intelligence, or at least try to explain, unwrap, discover
what is hidden.
So thinking is primarily answer questions or try to answer the questions that it is intelligence.

This agglomeration of experience and knowledge, albeit from an analysis of history, are to be shown
as part of the architect who takes a perspective of experience conversion in history theory. Therefore,
when designing, we remember those perspectives of what was the architecture in the past and we rely
on past experiences to forge a new conception of its own and sometimes completely break with this
past our quest to move away from this.
The theory of architecture as a necessity born of the architecture itself, not to be a new area of study.
In this sense the theory is integrated and condensed in a range of historical factors aimed at the reality
in which they arise. This pattern theory a strong relationship between thinking, designing and running,
allowing us to run what think through the design.
The theory applied wing Architecture architectural design involves a multitude of relations, the theory
considers the thought and experience, training and production, critical appraisal and generally
involves a review and reflection on the architecture and different times and for thinking so after a
thorough analysis and may result in a creation, a new architectural entity, conceived by its designer,
architect. If you look today, we see that the architectural language of the

Descriptive Essay On A Black Cat
i opened the window pane and felt the cold breeze brush my cheeks. A light blizzard was raging. It
was the beginning of winter. Snow was everywhere and the visibility was blurring. I let the air in,
accompanied by little snowflakes. I saw them glaze in the streetlight. A large leafless tree lay far from
my window. The snow slowly slid down from the tree and landed on a black cat. I chuckled at the sight
of this subtle romance. The cat meowed. He looked as though he was merrily offering solace to the
leafless tree. In its frail attempt to tease his sole companion, the tree sprayed more white snow and
caressed the black cat. No human being was in sight on the empty street. The streetlight flickered in
the distance. It was dark and no human in his right mind would venture to go out, or so I thought. As I

I could feel the immense distance between our souls as I watched him leave with smoke blowing out
of his mouth. I did not know his name, I realised. I had forgotten his sound. His heart seemed to be
bestrewn with vestiges. He looked at me and smiled. I heard them again, those small footsteps.
I was in love with the spectacle I saw that day.
Wait, I yelled.
The footsteps stopped.
I handed him a bottle of blended malt, (name) it read. He smiled again. No more snow on his
shoulders, his smile finally reached his eyes. I froze. I could hear the footsteps fade. Then they
stopped.
I put on my overcoat. I ventured into the quiet street outside. The streetlight flickered. I breathed the
breath of the blizzard. The atmosphere was dank. I stared at the white snow as I let the visiting
thoughts that approached my mind sink in.

The Optical-Time Domain Reflectometer
The OTDR is a device that measures distances to a reflection surface by measuring the time it takes
for a lightwave pulse to reflect from the surface. Reflection surfaces include the ends of fiber cables,
breaks in the fiber, splice locations, and connector locations. The ability to provide these
measurements simplifies the fault location procedure for fiber systems.
The OTDR measures the scattered and reflected light returning from a pulse of transmitted light.
Pulses of light are generated from the OTDR, and reflected light is displayed on the oscilloscope
portion of the OTDR. Knowing the time delay of the reflected light pulse and knowing the speed light
travels in the fiber determines the distance to the discontinuity of the fiber. Discontinuities or
impedance changes of the fiber cable reflect light back to the OTDR. It is important to know the index
of refraction of the fiber core to accurately determine distance. This setting must be correctly set on
the OTDR. Keep in mind that power level is displayed on vertical axis, and distance is displayed on
the horizontal axis of the screen. Abrupt changes in reflected power can represent fiber open
conditions. The OTDR will display small losses from couplers and connectors.
The accuracy of the OTDR can be in the order of .01 dB splice seen more than 40 km (25 miles) away
to within 1 meter of the problem. Loss performance of new installations is usually recorded on floppy
disks and/or hard copy printouts for future

My Trip To Galapagos Island Essay
I planned for my trip to the Galapagos Islands for about a year and a half. It was my chance for a trip
outside of the United States and a chance for me to solidify what I wanted for my future. It was a ten
day trip with four days in the capital of Ecuador, Quito, and six days on the islands. I went with a
group of kids from my high school, another high school in Massachusetts, and a group from Georgia.
There were no parents on the trip, only a couple of chaperones from the schools, and very little access
to the internet or the outside world. I was so excited to experience the anomaly that Charles Darwin
had discovered on these islands. I would be forced to interact with people I had never met before for
twenty four hours a day who may or may not have the same interests as me. I was not friends with
anyone on this trip and talking to new people had always terrified me if someone I knew did not
involve me in a conversation. I would be rooming with people who knew nothing about me and yet
they became people that I now cherish memories with. The islands were exactly how textbooks
describe. You could walk across one and see a rainforest, a desert, and a small rural town. There was
Isabela Island first, with it s five peaks and it s coastal town, where ... Show more content on

The Nature of Women Portrayed by Circe and Calypso in The Odyssey
In Homer s composition, The Odyssey, the roles women play are very significant. The best examples
of the true nature of women occur when Odysseus encounters Circe and Calypso. These two
characters illustrate the thoughts and feelings of how women how a woman feels and how they think.
As the quote states, Circe and Calypso illustrate how women really can be crafty, intelligent, sneaky,
disloyal, and cruel. In contrast to battles with men, Cyclops, or animals, sexual battles with women are
sometimes much more difficult to win.
These two female characters are especially enticing to Odysseus because they are goddesses. Though
it is evident that Odysseus longs to return ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time spent on Circe s island was a test of whether he could resist lust from a goddess, and he
fails. At first it appears as though the only reason Odysseus sleeps with Circe is to regain his
companions, but she easily persuades them to stay. What makes it worse is the fact that Odysseus is
not even the first one ready to go. His men are the ones who urge him to leave: What ails you now? It
is time to think about our own country (Book X, line 472). At a glance, it appears that Odysseus is
merely succumbing to Circe s schemes for reasons related to their health and well being, if we read
between the lines, we soon begin to realize that Odysseus is weak in the voracious hands of lust.
Odysseus arrives on Calypso s island in her cave. At first, it seems like Odysseus doesn t seem much
to mind her taking care of him, but over time it is plainly evident that he is unhappy with her. When
Hermes arrives on Calypso s island to give her the message from Zeus to release Odysseus, he is
bawling on the beach a daylong activity for him. Calypso is holding him with her by force; she has no
companions to help him back to Ithaca, nor has she a ship to send him in. Athena pleads with Zeus to
give Odysseus good fortune,

Dr. Ben Carson s Life
Ronald Dolan
9/22/15
Dr. Mera Ford
Dr. Ben Carson The sound of tearing cloth and a twisted metal sound resonates in his head. The knife
had bit into his friend when he lashed out toward his friend over the use of a simple radio. He felt as
light as a feather as he ran home from the scene of the crime. Inside his closet he clutches a bible.
After wiping his tears away the young child looks down to the bible, opens it, and reads Better a
patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city Proverbs 16:32
(CEB). (Ben Carson Bio.com) His anger and fear subsides from his fit of rage where he tried to stab
his friend. Benjamin Solomon Carson at this time was a young frustrate boy who needed help and
found it through the bible. He was lucky that the knife had hit his friend s belt buckle just right so that
the boy was unharmed. This experience, which he considers a miracle, turned a young unruly boy onto
a completely different path of life. Dr. Ben Carson has become someone of great stature and an icon to
all people struggling in the United States. He is a true example of how someone can come from a life
of poverty and hate to a life of love. Dr. Carson had his defining moment at a very young age. Along
with moment was an extremely supportive mother and brother. Carson started off that school year
with terrible grades and had little help to change those grades. It was up to him to pull them up, which
he did. He graduated with honors from his high

College Campus Security Issues
As you well know, the safety and security of students on campus is a major concern for universities
and colleges nationwide. However, crime in urban areas, such New Brunswick and the campuses
surrounding the city, have reached an all time high in recent years. This is distressing because it
directly affects the Rutgers community. I have reviewed the 2016 Rutgers crime logs issued by your
police department and I have observed that a substantial amount of crime, primarily assault and theft,
have occurred in university parking lots and decks. Approximately ten criminal incidents occurred in
Rutgers Parking lots in August and September 2016 alone. You are well aware of the aggravated
assault that took place in Lot 103 on Livingston Campus. One ... Show more content on

Some parking lots on campus, primarily staff parking lots, have access controls in which the staff
member must swipe a key card to gain entrance. The parking lots I would like to focus on are Lot 30
on College Avenue, The College Avenue Parking Deck, and the Douglass Parking Deck. Access
control will increase safety these university parking facilities. In the decks, a security booth, such as
the Par Kut booth or Portafab Guard Booths, will be installed to monitor who comes in and out of the
parking lots. A security guard, stationed in each booth, will double check that the individuals entering
the parking lot are only students, faculty, or authorized visitors. Attached or next to the booth will be a
gate arm. Students who have registered their cars to that specific parking lot or garage will be able to
swipe their Rutgers University Identification card. This will trigger the gate arm to life and allow them
entrance to the parking lot or garage. As a result, students who park in these facilities would not have
to pay for parking passes and employment opportunities would open for security booth personnel as
well as guards. Under this project, there will be a heightened presence of of security guards on bikes
and T3 s in Lot 30 and both decks, particularly at night. There will also be an increased presence of
more maintenance workers, who will help keep Rutgers parking facilities

The Feminist Movement Essay
The changes that occurred in gender relations at the turn of the twentieth century were a factor in the
emergence of modernism. The first wave of the Feminist Movement began during this period with the
New Woman as its protagonist. The New Woman was a figure that was independent, relatively
sexually liberated and educated. Many women no longer lived their lives according to the Victorian
ideal required for them and it became more acceptable for women to be seen unaccompanied outdoors
and working in certain types of employment. The new woman was perceived as being a treat to men
and after the First World War the independence that women enjoyed received a repercussion as
women were once again put inside the home and were and were ... Show more content on

(Port 2001, 205) According to Sigmund Freud, a man about thirty still appears youthful and is still
opened up to the possibilities of change and development. However, a woman of the same age, often
frightens us by her physical rigidity and unchangeability . (Porter 2001, 206) In the character of Sasha
Jansen can be seen the social, biological and economic consequences of ageing for women and the
strenuous efforts that she invests in staving off the effects of aging in order to achieve the effects of
appearing young. (Savoury 1998, p121)
A woman s ability to appear beautiful and desirable is threatened by the lack of financial resources as
well as by the exhaustion and depletion of their bodies over time and through the effects of
experience. (Port 2001, 206)
Modern society through the desires of advertising and consumer culture places women under pressure
to maintain a youthful appearance. The early twentieth century saw the rise of mass culture , fashion
houses , department stores and magazines offering the latest look was particularly aimed at the female.

Concussion Issues In Concussions
In another report, Charlie Garner, a former running back, talks about how he is scared that he may

that person. Garner says he only suffered from a handful of diagnosed concussions, when looking

previous player in the NFL was dealing with the brain disease and later killed himself. Throughout the

then went through various trials against the NFL and other lawyers, because the lawyers did not want

Imperialism In Venezuela
In the present day immigration into Venezuela is welcomed and rather easy. The country continues to
be a magnetic pole of sorts for immigrants. A number of reasons create this attraction including the
simplicity of migration, ease of becoming an entrepreneur, the current political situation, and access to
quality health care. According to 2010 World Bank statistics only 521,500 Venezuelans lived abroad
while 1,007,400 people immigrated to the country. Venezuela is clearly a haven for immigrants.
However, not all citizens are content with this fact and choose to emigrate elsewhere. A small
percentage of the population, most typically those falling into the upper middle class to upper class
distinctions, have expressed discontent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As already shown in the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States (CBTRUS) report from 1998 2002, gliomas account for approximately 80 % of all malignant brain tumors and at least 30 % of all brain and CNS neoplasms (Ostrom et al., 2014). A number of putative risk factors that have been associated with brain tumors have been discussed. However, there is no clear cause for brain and CNS tumors. Less that 1 % are linked to lifestyle or environmental factors (Parkin, Boyd, Walker, 2011). The median age of diagnosis is 64 years and has been reported to be higher in men compared to women (Ostrom et al., 2013). Like others, glioblastomas can develop either de novo as primary GBM or through the progression of lower grade astrocytoma (secondary GBM) (Peiffer Kleihues, 1999). With about 90 %, primary GBM account for the vast majority. The two types are hardly distinguishable from a histological point of view, but show differences concerning their genetic and epigenetic profiles. With regard to this, primary glioblastomas are characterized by EGFR amplification and PTEN mutations whereas secondary GBM show genetic alterations in TP53 for instance (Ohgaki Kleihues, 2007, 2013). In addition, mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) 1 are claimed to be frequent in secondary glioblastoma, thus used to be a genetic marker for these (Ohgaki Kleihues, 2013). Therefore, I will introduce you my PICOT question which is: In patients that are withdrawing from alcohol, what is the effect of benzodiazepines, compared to other drugs in the treatment for AWS? Evidence Based Practice The study by Amato, Minozzi and Davoli (2011) examined five randomized controlled trials to find an efficient and safe medication to treat AWS. The study which had a total of 7333 patients concluded that benzodiazepines were better for controlling seizures when compared to a placebo and antipsychotics (Amato et al., 2011). When comparing benzodiazepines versus anticonvulsants, researchers concluded that the benzodiazepine chlordiazepoxide had better outcomes. No other studies were found which would compare the effectiveness among benzodiazepines for the treatment of AWS. The study by Askgaard, Hallas, Fink Jensen, Molander, Madsen, and Pottegard (2016) compared how effective the antipsychotic phenobarbital is when compared to the benzodiazepine chlordiazepoxide. The study involved a total of 2428 patients who had AWS; 1063 patients were treated with chlordiazepoxide, and 1365 patients were treated with phenobarbital (Askgaard et al., 2016). Researchers ... Workplace communication is that exchange operating inside the workplace, and is a topic of consistent importance. New media is regularly integrated, new studies are completed about different personality characteristics, and varying ages leave and enter the workforce. This report provides a summary of findings about intergenerational communication in the workplace, specifically between Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, Generation X, born between 1965 and 1980, and Millennials, or Generation Y, born between 1981 and 1997 for Eller, Inc. s use in an upcoming project (CNN Library). Communication Preferences Boomers Baby Boomers lean towards more traditional methods of communication in the workplace. Although they are generally familiar with email and the internet, Boomers tend to prefer communication via face to face meetings or by phone (Morris, 2013). Perine offers similar information, stating that meetings are the best means of brainstorming, creating solutions to problems, and discussing business propositions. Further, maintenance of established hierarchical roles is important to Boomers, as well as direct conversations with details and facts (Perine, 2012). According to De La Torre, communication that ... • 7. Three Causes Of The Bhopal Chemical Plant Disaster In 1984 Introduction Three causes of the Bhopal Chemical Plant disaster happening in India in 1984 were long term financial difficulties, poor safety management and inadequate emergency plans. The disaster occurred when water entered a methyl isocyanate (MIC) storage tank, which led to a runaway reaction and then discharged toxic MIC vapour into the atmosphere. The leak caused the death of more than 2,000 people and the health effects on about 200,000 locals in the surrounding shanty towns (Kletz 2009, p. 338). Long term financial difficulties One cause of the Bhopal chemical disaster was long term financial difficulties, resulting in limited training and inadequate maintenance. limited training According to Joseph, Kaszniak and Long (2005, p. 544), prior to the disaster, the company had been facing a financial crisis for many years because the sale of pesticides had been fallen. Mannan (2012, p. 2649) points out that due to the budget cuts, many plant operators received insufficient training on operations and safety awareness. As shown in figure 1, there was a decrease in the length of training programmes for plant operators from 18 months in 1975 to only one month in December 1984, which is mentioned by Chouhan (2005, p. 207). Therefore, Chouhan (2005, p. 207) indicates that without the knowledge of runaway reactions occurring in the storage tank when the accident happened, many workers could not immediately take any emergency action to lessen the risk of the MIC escape from ... • 11. The Importance Of Public Health Public health is defined as the overall health of a population as whole that is often monitored and regulated by the state. Public health regulations can affect the community in their work, homes, and overall everyday life (What is Public Health?, 2017). This can include holding health fairs, ensuring places of employment are up to code, and vaccinations of children and elders in the given community. Those who work in the public health field actively works to ensure the health of the public is maintained and held to a standard that allows people to effectively live within a given community. Personal health is the regulation and overall health of an individual separate from the community in which they live. This differs from public health because all though the personal health can affect the assessment of public health, public health focuses on the entire community not isolating a single person but using all the data collected from everyone to assess and develop ways to help the entire population. Public health interventions and seminars will be based on the data collected for the individuals because this is how the public health workers will be able to find out the challenges they face and how to better serve the community. For example, if teen pregnancy is higher in a certain neighborhood resulting in many teens dropping out of school the public health workers would respond by giving out free contraceptives and providing parents agree they may also hold safe sex lectures. ... Scientists have discovered that schizophrenia is a severe condition that develops by a combination of biological, environmental, and unforeseen factors. Since this condition effects no more than two percent of the population, it is challenging to find an adequate sample size for assessments and further study. People suffering from schizophrenia are incapable of determining reality and show a wide array of symptoms varying from delusions, hallucinations, irrational conduct and disorganized speech. The complex severity of these symptoms make it difficult for scientists to find a remedy that works for all patients. Recent studies have shown that identical twins have an increased risk of developing the condition. The risk is increased by half in comparison to individuals who do not carry twin genetics. Many wonder if schizophrenia is caused by a physical abnormality inside the brain, but it has not been scientifically proven yet. Since twins are at the highest at risk for schizophrenia, it is essential to study the behaviors, patterns and recovery methods of these patients. • 26. The Optical-Time Domain Reflectometer The OTDR is a device that measures distances to a reflection surface by measuring the time it takes for a lightwave pulse to reflect from the surface. Reflection surfaces include the ends of fiber cables, breaks in the fiber, splice locations, and connector locations. The ability to provide these measurements simplifies the fault location procedure for fiber systems. The OTDR measures the scattered and reflected light returning from a pulse of transmitted light. Pulses of light are generated from the OTDR, and reflected light is displayed on the oscilloscope portion of the OTDR. Knowing the time delay of the reflected light pulse and knowing the speed light travels in the fiber determines the distance to the discontinuity of the fiber. Discontinuities or impedance changes of the fiber cable reflect light back to the OTDR. It is important to know the index of refraction of the fiber core to accurately determine distance. This setting must be correctly set on the OTDR. Keep in mind that power level is displayed on vertical axis, and distance is displayed on the horizontal axis of the screen. Abrupt changes in reflected power can represent fiber open conditions. The OTDR will display small losses from couplers and connectors. What makes it worse is the fact that Odysseus is not even the first one ready to go. His men are the ones who urge him to leave: What ails you now? It is time to think about our own country (Book X, line 472). At a glance, it appears that Odysseus is merely succumbing to Circe s schemes for reasons related to their health and well being, if we read between the lines, we soon begin to realize that Odysseus is weak in the voracious hands of lust. Odysseus arrives on Calypso s island in her cave. At first, it seems like Odysseus doesn t seem much to mind her taking care of him, but over time it is plainly evident that he is unhappy with her. When Hermes arrives on Calypso s island to give her the message from Zeus to release Odysseus, he is bawling on the beach a daylong activity for him. Calypso is holding him with her by force; she has no companions to help him back to Ithaca, nor has she a ship to send him in. Athena pleads with Zeus to give Odysseus good fortune, ... • 29. Dr. Ben Carson s Life Ronald Dolan 9/22/15 Dr. Mera Ford Dr. Ben Carson The sound of tearing cloth and a twisted metal sound resonates in his head. The knife had bit into his friend when he lashed out toward his friend over the use of a simple radio. He felt as light as a feather as he ran home from the scene of the crime. Inside his closet he clutches a bible. After wiping his tears away the young child looks down to the bible, opens it, and reads Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city Proverbs 16:32 (CEB). (Ben Carson Bio.com) His anger and fear subsides from his fit of rage where he tried to stab his friend. Benjamin Solomon Carson at this time was a young frustrate boy who needed help and found it through the bible. He was lucky that the knife had hit his friend s belt buckle just right so that the boy was unharmed. This experience, which he considers a miracle, turned a young unruly boy onto a completely different path of life. Dr. Ben Carson has become someone of great stature and an icon to all people struggling in the United States. He is a true example of how someone can come from a life of poverty and hate to a life of love. Dr. Carson had his defining moment at a very young age. Along with moment was an extremely supportive mother and brother. Carson started off that school year with terrible grades and had little help to change those grades. It was up to him to pull them up, which he did. He graduated with honors from his high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. College Campus Security Issues As you well know, the safety and security of students on campus is a major concern for universities and colleges nationwide. However, crime in urban areas, such New Brunswick and the campuses surrounding the city, have reached an all time high in recent years. This is distressing because it directly affects the Rutgers community. I have reviewed the 2016 Rutgers crime logs issued by your police department and I have observed that a substantial amount of crime, primarily assault and theft, have occurred in university parking lots and decks. Approximately ten criminal incidents occurred in Rutgers Parking lots in August and September 2016 alone. You are well aware of the aggravated assault that took place in Lot 103 on Livingston Campus. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some parking lots on campus, primarily staff parking lots, have access controls in which the staff member must swipe a key card to gain entrance. The parking lots I would like to focus on are Lot 30 on College Avenue, The College Avenue Parking Deck, and the Douglass Parking Deck. Access control will increase safety these university parking facilities. In the decks, a security booth, such as the Par Kut booth or Portafab Guard Booths, will be installed to monitor who comes in and out of the parking lots. A security guard, stationed in each booth, will double check that the individuals entering the parking lot are only students, faculty, or authorized visitors. Attached or next to the booth will be a gate arm. Students who have registered their cars to that specific parking lot or garage will be able to swipe their Rutgers University Identification card. This will trigger the gate arm to life and allow them entrance to the parking lot or garage. As a result, students who park in these facilities would not have to pay for parking passes and employment opportunities would open for security booth personnel as well as guards. Under this project, there will be a heightened presence of of security guards on bikes and T3 s in Lot 30 and both decks, particularly at night. There will also be an increased presence of more maintenance workers, who will help keep Rutgers parking facilities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Feminist Movement Essay The changes that occurred in gender relations at the turn of the twentieth century were a factor in the emergence of modernism. The first wave of the Feminist Movement began during this period with the New Woman as its protagonist. The New Woman was a figure that was independent, relatively sexually liberated and educated. Many women no longer lived their lives according to the Victorian ideal required for them and it became more acceptable for women to be seen unaccompanied outdoors and working in certain types of employment. The new woman was perceived as being a treat to men and after the First World War the independence that women enjoyed received a repercussion as women were once again put inside the home and were and were ... However, a woman of the same age, often frightens us by her physical rigidity and unchangeability . (Porter 2001, 206) In the character of Sasha Jansen can be seen the social, biological and economic consequences of ageing for women and the strenuous efforts that she invests in staving off the effects of aging in order to achieve the effects of appearing young. (Savoury 1998, p121) A woman s ability to appear beautiful and desirable is threatened by the lack of financial resources as well as by the exhaustion and depletion of their bodies over time and through the effects of experience. (Port 2001, 206) Modern society through the desires of advertising and consumer culture places women under pressure to maintain a youthful appearance. The early twentieth century saw the rise of mass culture , fashion houses , department stores and magazines offering the latest look was particularly aimed at the female. • 32. Concussion Issues In Concussions In another report, Charlie Garner, a former running back, talks about how he is scared that he may have the brain disease CTE. In the reports it says that, [He] can t go remember things. Garner also states that he has to bring his children with him to remember where he had parked (Becker). Players would not know if he had the brain disease because the disease can not be detected until the death of that person. Garner says he only suffered from a handful of diagnosed concussions, when looking back as his NFL career and talking to a concussion expert. He now believes that he has had at least a dozen concussions every season for his eleven season career (Becker). Some concussions are undetectable because most players play through them and do not show the common symptoms of a concussions. Concussions stories can be told in many different ways, like articles and movies. In a recent movie named Concussion , a doctor studied NFL players brains to see if they had the brain disease CTE, and how it makes players suicidal. In the beginning of the movie it showed how a previous player in the NFL was dealing with the brain disease and later killed himself. Throughout the movie it showed how the doctor did his study on the brain and wanted to make the news public. He then went through various trials against the NFL and other lawyers, because the lawyers did not want the information he was presenting to be made public. He was also going up against the lawyers to prove his point in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Imperialism In Venezuela In the present day immigration into Venezuela is welcomed and rather easy. The country continues to be a magnetic pole of sorts for immigrants. A number of reasons create this attraction including the simplicity of migration, ease of becoming an entrepreneur, the current political situation, and access to quality health care. According to 2010 World Bank statistics only 521,500 Venezuelans lived abroad while 1,007,400 people immigrated to the country. Venezuela is clearly a haven for immigrants. However, not all citizens are content with this fact and choose to emigrate elsewhere.
