This document proposes integrating outdoor adventure education principles into health and physical education curricula to develop students' outdoor physical literacy. It discusses the benefits of outdoor adventure education, including developing both hard skills like navigation and soft skills like teamwork. It also discusses limitations of current physical literacy approaches, which focus on sports and do not motivate lifelong activity. The author argues that integrating outdoor education could help physical education produce holistic outcomes by connecting to students' interests in nature-based recreation and developing skills applicable throughout life. The proposal is to shift to a new approach called Health and Outdoor Physical Education.
