Moses set up a tabernacle outside the camp where he judged disputes among the people. God's presence returned to the tabernacle in a cloudy pillar. Moses had an intimate relationship with God where they spoke face to face. Moses prayed for the Israelites, interceding on their behalf as their leader, just as Jesus intercedes for humanity. God assured Moses that His presence would go with the Israelites.

- 2. Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp. This seems to have been a temporary building, set up for worship, and at which he judged disputes among the people. The people looked after him; they were very desirous to be at peace with God , and concerned to know what would come to pass . The cloudy pillar which had withdrawn from the camp when it was polluted with idolatry, now returned . If our hearts go forth toward God to meet Him, He will graciously come to meet us. - 3. 11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. Moses and The Lord had an intimate relationship. "Face to face" was not physical but spiritual . In that day, no one else had such fellowship with God.
- 4. Every child of God can have such a relationship today, and every person who will , can become a child of God.
- 5. 12 And Moses said unto the Lord, See, Thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet Thou hast said , I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in My sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, shew me now Thy Way, that I may know Thee, that I may find grace in Thy sight: and consider that this nation is Thy people.
- 6. Moses' sincere and intense intercession for the Israelite people in this situation Is a picture or type of Christ's intercession for us. Moses loved this stiff-necked people , because they were God's chosen people . Not because they were good; they weren't. Not because they loved him ; they didn't.
- 7. Nor did we love Jesus, when He died for us, Shedding His Own Blood so that we could be saved. 1 John 4 19 We love Him, because He first loved us.
- 8. 14 And He (God) said, My Presence shall go with thee , and I will give thee rest. Moses prayed a prayer of intercession for the nation, and God had mercy . As God heard Moses' prayer, even more , He hears the prayer of His Own Son in our behalf . Someone would say , "God changed His Mind." God's Mind is always to have mercy when people repent.

- 10. 15 And he said unto Him, If Thy Presence go not with me , carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and Thy people have found grace in Thy sight? is it not in that Thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and Thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. The only thing that separates God's people from the rest of the world is HIS PRESENCE in us .
- 11. 17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I Will do this thing also that thou hast spoken : for thou hast found grace in My sight, and I know thee by name. "I know thee by name" -- means that God honored Moses for his steadfast stand with God. Moses was not a man without faults, But his loyalty to God never wavered. He always strived to do all things God's Way .
- 12. 18 And he said, I beseech Thee, shew me Thy glory . 19 And He said, I will make all My Goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the Name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
- 13. 20 And He said, Thou canst not see My face: for there shall no man see Me, and live. 21 And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away Mine hand, and thou shalt see My back parts: but My face shall not be seen.
- 14. God shows man His Goodness : Grace and Mercy . That's all we can stand , but it's all we need .
- 16. We can stand true to God in Power of His Grace and the Strength of His Mercy.
- 17. God just wants us to be His children with our whole hearts . 2 Chronicles 16 9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect (completely) toward Him. …
