Fernando Botero is a famous Colombian painter and sculptor born in 1932 in Medellin, Colombia. He is known for his unique style of painting obese figures and adding volume to his sculptures. Botero had his first exhibition at age 20 and experimented with creating volume in his figures in the 1960s, developing his trademark style which now hangs in galleries worldwide and earns millions from collectors. He also painted a series on the Iraq war to make social commentary through his art.
