This document summarizes observations from an ethnographic study of students dining in the Bits and Bytes Café at Hofstra University. It notes that the café gets crowded during lunchtime, that more cashiers are needed to reduce long lines, and that the café has become popular due to its proximity to most classes on campus. Students were observed dining alone and with friends, bunching up at the food selection area, and leaving messes when the dining area was emptier. Paying with cash also slowed down the lines.
