Facebook and MySpace are popular social networking websites that allow users to create profiles, share photos and messages, and connect with friends. MySpace was initially created for bands to promote their music but now has over 95 million registered users, making it one of the most visited sites online. Facebook was founded in 2004 by Harvard students and allows users to search for friends associated with their school or interests. Facebook has over 85% of students at supported colleges as members, with 60% logging on daily. While these sites allow for social connection, schools must consider their policies around student speech and when they can regulate content from these sites that disrupts the school environment.
