This document provides steps to setup a Cisco WSA 9.2 appliance from the factory default configuration including: configuring interfaces, downloading the OS, setting the default username/password, installing a license, setting the clock, and completing the initial GUI setup. The WSA has 5 interfaces - M1 for management, P1/P2 for traffic, and T1/T2 for traffic monitoring. The initial setup covers configuring the M1 interface, loading a license file, setting the date/time, and navigating the GUI configuration wizard.

- 4. Type of Interfaces • The WSA has five usable network interfaces: M1, P1, P2, T1, and T2. Each of these should be leveraged for their specific purpose when possible.
- 5. Introduction • Interface Type M1: This interface is used to manage the appliance. Optionally, it may also handle web traffic. • Interface Type P: P1 can be limited to client request traffic, while P2 is restricted from accepting explicit proxy requests. This will decrease the amount of traffic on each interface and allow better segmentation in the network design. • Interface Type T: The T1 and T2 ports are available for the Layer 4 Traffic Monitor (L4TM) feature. This feature monitors a mirrored layer 2 port and adds the ability to block traffic based on a blocked list of known malicious IP addresses and domain names. It does this by looking at the source and destination IP addresses of traffic and sending a TCP reset packet, or Port Unreachable message if the blocked list is matched. This feature has the advantage of blocking traffic that is sent using any protocol.

- 12. Step 1 of 6 • After initial boot of the WSA you can login into the CLI using the default credentials. • WSA is configured to get the IP address for the management interface by DHCP by default. However you can change the same using below steps.
- 13. Step 2 of 6 • View management IP Address –M1 interface: interfaceconfig • View certificates assigned: certconfig
- 14. Step 3 of 6 • Change the M1 address and provide proper hostname. Remember, while configuring the hostname, it must include domain name like cisco.com or babi.com.
