FAST AND FURIOUS 7
By Harrison, Harry and Joe
WHAT IS FAST AND FURIOUS 7?
Fast and Furious 7 or Furious Seven is a 2015 American action film directed by James Wan and
written by Chris Morgan. It is the seventh instalment in the Fast and the Furious franchise.
The film stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris
'Ludacris' Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Kurt Russell, and Jason Statham.
Furious 7 follows Dominic Toretto (Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Walker) and the rest of their team, who
have returned to the United States to live normal lives after securing amnesty for their past crimes in
Fast & Furious 6 (2013), until Deckard Shaw (Statham), a rogue special forces assassin seeking to
avenge his comatose younger brother, puts them in danger once again.
DEVELOPMENT
In April 2013, it was announced that the hit film, Fast and Furious five will see
two new split sequels, Fast six and Furious seven.
Also, Australian director James Wan, predominantly known for horror films,
was announced as the sequel's director, with Neal H. Moritz and Michael
Fottrell returning to produce and Morgan returning to write the script, his fifth in
the franchise.
On April 16, 2013, Diesel announced that the sequel would be released on July
11, 2014.In May 2013, Diesel said that the sequel would feature Los Angeles,
Tokyo and the Middle East as locations.
FILMING
Principal photography began in early September 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia,
with a casting call issued Abu Dhabi was also a filming location.
On November 30, 2013, while on a break for the Thanksgiving holiday,
Walker, who Acted Brian O'Conner, died in a single-vehicle accident. The
next day, Universal announced that production would continue after a delay
that would allow the filmmakers to rework the film. On December 4, 2013,
Universal put production on hold indefinitely. Wan later confirmed that the
film had not been cancelled.
Principal photography ended on July 10, 2014.
REDEVELOPMENT OF
WALKER’S CHARACTER
In January 2014, Time reported that Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, would be retired
instead of killed, and that new scenes would be developed in order to allow the franchise to
continue without him. In March 2014, the Daily News reported that the studio had hired four
actors with bodies similar to Walker's physique, and that his face and voice would be
computer-generated, and in April 2014, Walker's brothers Caleb and Cody, both of whom
closely resemble him, were chosen as stand-ins. For scenes which required re-creating
Walker's face and body, the team hired Peter Jackson's Weta Digital.
The final film includes a combination of CGI and the use of carefully chosen camera angles
and lighting using Walker's brothers to simulate his appearance.
The last scene was the tribute to Paul which you could tell was edited heavily but it still had
the meaning they wanted to get across. It made people realise that the characters had
something a lot more outside the film

STUDIOS
In fast and furious 7, the budget of the film was $190,000,000, the cost was so high
due to expensive special effects and high quality production.
Fast and furious 7 was produced by Universal studios and Universal studios is
arguably the most popular film production company of all time. Fast and Furious
would have needed to be produced by a big production company due to the sheer
budget it needed to become the success that it is.
Furious’ box office revenue was a staggering 1.58 billion dollars.

• Do you know what films they were attached to?
• Posters, billboards, press, radio and tv interviews. Show clips - mention all of them.
WAYS OF MARKETING
• The film, directed by Saw co-creator James Wan and known in the US as Furious 7,
will roll out in more than 14,500 theatres in 65 territories including the US and is set
to play in a record global Imax footprint of more than 800 venues.
• Furious 7 also took advantage of free advertising via social media. They created a
twitter account and a Facebook page.
• Vin Diesel also used his account to promote the film. He gave sneak peaks of the
dates and pictures of shooting on set.
THE DEATH OF PAUL WALKER
The tragic death of Paul created questions in peoples heads, is he going to die in the
film? If it what is going to happen to him? But the studio was forced to walk a fine line
with the film’s promotion, after Walker died in a car cash while shooting “Furious 7”.
“Restrained but effective” was how the campaign was characterized by one industry
marketing executive, who like most of the people interviewed for this story chose to
remain anonymous. “They didn’t lean on it, but they touched on it,” said another
industry insider.
Many people heard about the tragic incident and wanted to see the tribute and the
last film Paul Walker would appear in. Vin Diesel also poster heart breaking Instagram
posts about how he was a brother to him.
MERCHANDISE
• Fast and furious seven had many toy cars made for the film. Also there was poster
that could be purchased and wall papers.
• T-shirts could be purchased from shops that had cars and writing on the fron of
them
• Toy characters could be brought also.
WHO ARE THEY TARGETING?
They were targeting people from the age of 12 to 28. The movie was
rated as a 12. This could have been made a higher rated film like the
previous films in this sequel. I think they made it this young as Kids
that age have heard about the films and will enjoy this type of movie.
This widens the target audience for the movie. The people that are
now in there 20’s will have grown up with the first couple of fast and
furious’.
This poster is representing the death of Paul walker. The quote in the
poster shows how they are having to part because of this disaster.
Also the lights are making up the number of the film.
