About FAVL FAVL establishes libraries in Sub-Saharan Africa. FAVL helps people read!
FAVL Libraries FAVL has established 13 libraries: 8 in Burkina Faso, 3 in Ghana, 1 in Tanzania and 1 in Uganda
Community Libraries
A FAVL Library Located in rural villages Hold about 1,000 books Paid librarian operates library 20 hours a week Open to the public  Annual Membership Fees: $.20 for Children $.40 for Adults
Libraries are run by a local library committee and a hired  librarian. FAVL makes an  effort to stock libraries with relevant materials.

At first shipped books from U.S. but villagers want African novels not Jane Austen Very few books in local languages Brought us to partner with Kathy Knowles of Osu Children’s Library fund to make available low cost books for children in local languages Micro publishing Because intensive, we do outreach- where parents don’t know how to read or have a library culture, very important Also do training and capacity building- keeping accounts, budgets reports
