The author conducted a focus group to get feedback on their newspaper front cover and second page from potential readers. The four participants provided mostly positive feedback on the layout, headlines, images and believable stories. However, some suggested adding more text and reducing imagery on the front cover to better encode it as a newspaper rather than a magazine. They also noted the excessive color could be toned down. Based on this feedback, the author would add more text to the front cover for a more serious feel, fill white space on the second page, and convert some images to black and white to clarify the media type. The focus group helped identify aspects to improve to better meet the purpose of conveying a realistic newspaper.
