A2 Media Studies Advanced Portfolio Production Diary PROGRESS UPDATE PLAN FOR NEXT MONTH / WEEK(Including Possible Contingency Plans If Problems Anticipated) September 2012 (Detailed Monthly Summary) Planning what project I’d like to do considering the pro and cons of doing a newspaper, short film or music video. Setting up blog October 2012 (Detailed Monthly Summary) Decided on producing a newspaper. Analysed of 3 Similar Products to Ancillary 1- Billborads. The Sun , E New and Fox News Looking at the similarities of all three to recognise what conventions make a newspaper billboard. PLAN and CONSTRUCT billboard November 2012 (Detailed Monthly Summary) CONSTRUCT masthead to use on ancillary 1 Research existing mastheads, producing a similar design inspired by ‘The Independent’ masthead. Look at my three existing products creating a brief layout of all three. Analysing the techniques the existing products consisted of to apply the same to my design. Ancillary 1 Constructed Analysis of 3 Similar Products to Ancillary 2 December 2012 (Detailed Monthly Summary) Research three existing radio advertisements and researched the conventions of a radio advertisement. Analysed 3 existing radio adverts. Green Tea, Smart car and Energy Drink to see if the existing products matched the conventions I’d researched. Research into Artist, Genre & Narrative etc With Conclusions Finish main research tasks for 3 newspaper layouts, construct radio advertisement Mon W/B 07/01/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Market Research- construct questionnaire using specific questions to see what an audience would expect from a newspaper. Then I went round college to find 10 participants to fill in the questionnaires. I wrote my script for Ancillary 2reffering to the existing products I had listened to taking into consideration the research I had done on radio advertisement conventions DONE enter the results into pie charts

The pie charts are the simplest way for an examiner to read my finding. PLANNED layout for both final pieces CONCTRUCT final piece layout Mon W/B 18/02/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) I have researched the genres of articles I hope to use in my final page eg crime, sport and local news. By reading existing articles online I have established what language techniques are used by the journalist to document the events. Write three articles Mon W/B 25/02/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Two articles DONE I have written one article on a fictional story of how a teenage robber has beaten a police offer during a robbery gone wrong. This story would be realistic in a local newspaper as crime is a major genre used in newspaper. I have also wrote a story of how a local sportsman who has been slated recently in the local press run for charity. A newspaper would express this article since football would attract a large male audience. Images DONE I have taken images that relate to my articles. Edit Images for articles 1 and 2

A2 Media Studies Advanced Portfolio Production Diary Mon W/B 04/03/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Pictures for 1 and 2 DONE I have edited the images regarding the the two articles to create an emotive response to the police man from the audience. Also to show the footballer has ran to raise money for charity. Wrote article for 3 Take images for article 3 Mon W/B 11/03/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Put articles and images for 1 and 2 onto final layout with advertisements. I have added all my work onto the newspaper layout I previously created. Wrote a story regarding an elderly couple winning the lottery. Take Images for article 3 Mon W/B 18/03/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Images for article 3 DONE and EDITED I set up a shoot with my gran and granddad to pose as the elderly couple. Put images and article 3 onto layout Mon W/B 01/04/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Layout for articles, images and adverts DONE CONSTRUCT weather map and forecast I have created advertisements for local newspapers using Photoshop. I have also created a weather forecast to go onto my second page. Put article 3 and images onto second page. Mon W/B 08/04/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) I have finished both front cover and 2nd page final piece. Constructed a focus group in which people will be able to express feedback on my work. Mon W/B 15/04/13 (Detailed Weekly Summary) I have answered the different questions to my evaluation Q1 as a PowerPoint presentation. Q2 in a text document , Q3 using Facebook to collect the response and text document to expose my findings.
