COLLOCATION: it is a group of two or more words that
generally go together. These groups sound natural to native
English speakers. E.g.: Quick shower; self confidence; self
steem, hold your horses; miss the boat (idioms); appreciate
sincerelly; terribly upset;

PHRASAL VERBS

      A PHRASAL VERB is a verb is a kind of collocation. It consists on a common verb which
       has a preposition that changes the meaning of this verb:

E.g.: TO GIVE: to hand sth to sby.
     TO GIVE UP (+ -ing/ + a noun): “I have given up smoking/ cigarrettes and I feel
        healthier now”
TO GIVE UP:
To stop doing sth.

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

PRESENT PERFECT: USES
1. THE P.P. IS USED TO TALK ABOUT A ACTION THAT STARTED IN
THE PAST AND COMES UP TO THE PRESENT
E.g.: I’ve been a teacher for two years.
2. FOR ACTIONS THAT STARTED IN AN UNKNOWN PAST WHICH
HAVE CONSEQUENCES/EFFECTS IN THE PRESENT:
E.g.: I’ve lost my wallet. (consequence: I can’t use my money, credit
cards, etc.)
3. THE PRESENT PERFECT IS ALSO USED WITH THE FOLLOWING
ADVERBS: ALREADY, NEVER. EVER, JUST, YET or with the TIME
WORDS SINCE/FOR, SO FAR THIS……, THIS MORNING/MONTH,
ETC.
PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

    ALREADY: I’ve already done my homework. I can go out now.
     (FINISHED ACTIONS IN THE PRESENT)
    NEVER: I’ve never visited Italica. I think we should go this Saturday.
    (UNDONE ACTIONS THE LIFETIME)
    EVER: Have you ever been to NY?. /No-one has (ever) proved aliens exist.
    JUST: I’ve just seen Mary in the park. If you go now, you’ll find her there.
     (VERY RECENTLY DONE ACTIONS)
    YET: I haven’t done my homework yet. I should start now. / have you made the
     bed yet?
      (UNDONE OBLIGATIONS)

POSITION OF THE ADVERS: BEFORE THE PAST PARTICIPLE, except for YET, at the
                           end of the sentence.
Present perfect with FOR and SINCE

    For actions that started in the past and come up to the present and
     continue, we use FOR and SINCE with the present perfect.
