This document outlines Feldman's method for analyzing artworks, which consists of 4 steps: 1) Describe - objectively state the facts about the artwork. 2) Analyze - identify patterns in the use of elements and principles of design. 3) Interpret - propose an interpretation of the artwork's meaning and provide evidence from the elements and principles. 4) Judge - develop an alternative interpretation and determine which is stronger based on the evidence. Tips are provided for each step to guide the identification and discussion of relevant elements and principles.
