This document describes a final year project to create an automatic traffic light controller using image processing. It aims to reduce traffic jams by analyzing images from a traffic camera to adjust light timings based on vehicle density. The system would use an 8051 microcontroller and image processing algorithms like filtering and edge detection on the camera images. This would help optimize traffic flow compared to traditional controllers. Future enhancements could include sharing traffic data between lights and providing real-time info to drivers. The project aims to provide a low-cost and accurate automatic solution to traffic management problems.
