- 1. Listless markets end flat; HDFC gains 3.15% Market Summary 10-Dec-2012 Following a slightly positive start, markets traded listless in a range. The bias turned to negative after pessimistic European opening before recovering slightly in the end to close flat. Nifty ended above psychological 5900. Sensex closed above 19400. The BSE Sensex ended at 19409.69, down 14.41 points or 0.07%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of 19478.01 and 19362.32 respectively. 13 stocks advanced against 17 declining ones on the benchmark index. The S&P CNX Nifty gained 1.50 points or 0.03% to settle at 5908.90. The index touched high and low of 5919.95 and 5888.10 respectively. 25 stocks advanced against 25 declining ones on the index. Sensex Nifty The BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 7116.60 and gained 0.65% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.32% to 7470.08. The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7558.58 (up 0.09%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4731.90 (up 0.16%). The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 3.01% at 14.51 from its previous close of 14.96 on Friday. Sectors in action On the BSE Sectorial front, Real Estate (up 1.10%), Healthcare (up 0.89%) and Banks (up 0.31%) were the top gainers. Consumer Durables (down 1.52%), Information Technology (down 0.89%) and Oil & Gas (down 0.72%) were the top losers. The Angels and the Devils Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (up 3.15%), Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd (up 2.51%), Cipla Ltd (up 1.55%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.42%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (up 1.10%) were the top gainers on the Sensex. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (down 2.50%), NTPC Ltd (down 1.91%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.46%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 1.25%) and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (down 1.07%) were the top losers on the Sensex. Benchmark Drivers Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (45.84 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-22.11 points), Reliance Industries Ltd (-14.32 points), ICICI Bank (-13.52 points) and Larsen And Toubro Ltd (-8.47 points) were the major Sensex drivers today. On the other end Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (12.30 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-4.75 points), ICICI Bank (-3.55 points), Reliance Industries Ltd (-3.37 points) and Bharti Airtel Ltd (-1.81 points) were the major Nifty movers today.
