Final Program 78th Annual Meeting of the Eastern Sociological Society The Roosevelt Hotel New York, NY February 21-24, 2008 Dear Colleague, A PDF version of the Final Program is now online and available below. Be patient, it takes a while to load Please read all of the information below and keep this in a safe place. It you are not wondering about some of these things now, you probably will be! Please pay particular attention to whether or not your session is listed as a Roundtable, which means that AV will not be available. Searching the Program: You can scroll to the last pages of the file for the participant index to find your session number(s) and then either scroll through or use the "find" tool (the binoculars) to locate the session. If you cannot find yourself, please email the committee at easterns2008@gmail.com. Changes to Program: This is the final program. No more changes can be accepted. AV Support: Overhead Projectors, PowerPoint Projectors, and screens will be available for all regular sessions. You must bring your own laptop, however, or arrange with someone else in your session to share. ROUNDTABLE SESSIONS WILL NOT HAVE AV EQUIPMENT. Use of handouts rather than machines should encourage interaction and also keep the clutter and noise down in the assigned room. Membership and Registration: Unless you have received Presidential dispensation, ALL Presenters in the discipline must be ESS members and must register for the sessions. Undergrads whose institutions hold a Departmental Membership do not have to pay for membership ($30 for a student at the pre-conference rate) but will have to register at the nominal $10 Undergraduate rate. (Ugrads, bug your chair to join – it is good for everyone and can be done online at our website). NON-SOCIOLOGISTS may opt for a "non-member" registration. Registration and Membership can be taken care of online in the Annual Meeting section of our website http://essnet.org. Online Pre-registration ends February 17th -- or if you are mailing in your registration, it must be postmarked by February 11th . After that time registration will be available onsite at the increased rate ($10 more for all categories other than Undergraduate). Hotel Reservations: The conference hotel is the Hotel Roosevelt. Room rate is $195 per night for a standard single/double. ESS gets access to meeting space in the hotel by committing to a certain level of "room nights" from our attendees during the course of the conference. If we do not hit that number, we pay a hefty charge – so we ask that you support the society by staying in the hotel if at all possible. The cut off date for reservations is January 30. You can make your reservations through the Annual Meeting tab of the ESS website at http://essnet.org. If you are interested in
