About WordPress

  WordPress is an Open Source Content
   Management System (CMS).
  It is a framework that is built in php and utilizes a
   mysql database.
  It is used by over 12% of the 1,000,000 most
   trafficked websites.
  WordPress has grown to be the largest self-hosted
   blogging tool in the world.
About WordPress

  There are 2 ways to use WordPress:
     Hosted version: www.wordpress.com
        Less flexibility (blogs)
     Self Hosted version: www.wordpress.org
        Fully customizable (corporate or personal
         site).

  2 ways to do it:
    Through your Hosting provider, if they provide it
    Manually with a mysql database and ftp access

  Change the design and layout of a site
  Are great for specifying functionality of your site.(ie. Photo,

 Pages are very useful for more static like information on your
  WordPress site:
    About Us
    Resume or Portfolio
    Services
 Pages can be made with a hierarchy:
    First make the “parent” page,
    Then create the sub pages, and
      Choose that parent category.

 Both post and pages can be written and scheduled to post in
  advanced:



 Remember to include tags and categories on each post,
  which can help with usability and makes content SEO
  friendly.

 Use the tool bar to change text formats, highlight, add links
  and media like photos, videos, etc.
The Interface: Media Library




 Where all photos, videos, etc that are inserted into pages or
  posts are stored.
 You can also add new media here first before you insert them
  into a post.

 WordPress gives you the option of controlling comments on
  your blog:
    Within the settings, you can allow all comments to be
     automatically published or,
    You can control comment – approving, replying, editing,
     or deleting each comment.
