Monogatari
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Main area of activity:
Podcast
Reference your medium you will mostly work in; Graphic design, Film, Photography,
Interactive/Video Game etc.
Rationale: 150 words approx.
Over the last two years this course has taught me a wide variety of skills and knowledge that I can
put together and use here. I have done several different projects in audio that has helped me in
many different ways, due to the variety of what I created. Over time I have become proficient with
a microphone and also with various Adobe products such as Audition and Photoshop. I discovered
new ways to speed up the editing process using techniques such as Inline Tools and more
complex cuts done with only a crop tool. This has made me confident that I can make a podcast
more superior than anything I’ve made before. As I’ve learnt how to use Photoshop in many print
projects, I can create an abundance of extra products. It will be a massive help in creating posters
and various types of merchandise that could end up being the area to bring my project up from a
merit to a distinction. Another project that will help massively is my audio project. As of now my
idea will involve a lot of voice overs, sound effects and music. From my audio project in the first
year, I have an advantage as I made an audio story involving all of these aspects. It means I will
be able to add these to my film in a way that feels natural, making them fit in well with the rest of it,
allowing everything to blend together and creating a solid final product.
This year I think my first project, which was the client project, will really help towards this project.
It’s where I learnt a lot about depth of field and how important post-production can be to make a
video as good as it can be.
The whole outline of each different project has led up to what I’m doing now. Pre-production has its
similarities for every single different media outlet, all involving research and having to plan in ways
both similar and different, but it’s also taught me how to delegate work.
Review your progress throughout the 2 years- what products have you made and what skills and
knowledge have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your previous, similar production and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept: 200 words approx.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project?
In preparation for this project I researched a few different products as well as people , straight off
the bat when we first had to brainstorm ideas I already had a relatively clear idea of what I wanted
to create however the research really tied everything together and any loose screws within my
concept and initial ideas were tightened. The products I researched all had very specific aspects
that I liked for example, I like the mixture of fact and fiction in the podcast ‘Lore’ or the sequencing
and factual information within a story for ‘’. I will use that information and those specific aspects
form the mentioned products to influence my final product so that all its technical aspects (e.g.

tone and mood, editing, sound etc.) are as good as they possibly can be and are coherent with the
story that I want to tell. The project that I am going create is a informative yet fictional podcast, the
concept of the project is very linar, the rough idea is that we can listen to a certain song from a
famous music artist from the World War II era such as ‘We’ll meet again’ performed Vera Lynn,
then after the song finishes the radio host will tell the listener certain facts about the song and
artist. The audio ad and poster will tie in as the product behind my project is a radio show
campaign so the audio ad and poster works quite well as a tie in; as well as adding
professionalism.
Audience Classification
My audience will be predominantly male and female and of different ages, this is because my
podcast is informing and entertaining people of the famous folklores and facts behind the legends
of Japan and I also hold the belief that unknown stories and information can be learned and
discovered by many different ages and genders. The stories and historical information used within
the podcast will be the type of stories and information that you will hear in podcasts such as Lore
and Tales and which again tends to be enjoyed by an audience of all genders and ages.
Generally, my audience will fall into the social grades ABC1, this is because this audience will be
more likely to have a disposable income compared to social grades C2DE which generally do not
have as much disposable income. The Psychographic results are based on my personal
knowledge of political stereotypes as well as gender and age stereotypes, which leads me to
believe that seen as though the majority of the audience who would listen to this podcast are
people of different ages and genders that generally leaning left politically the audience is very likely
to fall under the following psychographics: Emulator; Bala
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: 150 words approx.
The main way I will evaluate my work is by going through everything piece by piece and talk about
what worked and what didn’t. This itself will be done in two ways, through an evaluation
PowerPoint at the end of the project, and a weekly reflection which will be done throughout the
project, which will show and I think I’ve done well and also what I could improve on. As well as
evaluating it myself, I will show what I’ve done to other people and allow them to tell me what I’ve
done well and what I need to do better. This will be very important as multiple opinions are much
better, as well as seeing my project from a different perspective.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
