This document describes six types of folds that occur in the earth's crust due to tectonic plate movement: anticlines, synclines, tight folds, overfolds, recumbent folds, and nappe folds. It also describes five types of faults: normal faults, reverse faults, tear faults, rift valleys, and horst faults. Folds and faults shape the earth's surface over long periods of time through the compression and movement of tectonic plates.
