nick curtis

“Nick’s Fonts is a modest little foundry
dedicated to the preservation of our rich
typographic heritage. Most of the foundry’s
designs are based on authentic historical
sources, gleaned from the massive collections
of the Library of Congress. If you’re looking
for a font that captures the essence of the
Wild West, the Gay Nineties or the Jazz Age,
look here first: if it’s not in the catalog,
it will be soon.”

Curtis has created over 400 different
typefaces but Creampuff is definitely our
favourite. It’s funky, bold and fluid design
is both fun and friendly. This by no means
implies that you shouldn’t head over to his
web page and take a look at some of his other
fantastic fonts!

                 somewhere else

“The studio at Somewhere Else based in
Singapore exists as an idea: the constant
pursuit for the Ideal, a journey with no
known destination except beyond the status
in quo. A constant pursuit to create works
that are able to not just communicate, but
also able to touch and inspire. This Zebra
truteype font is an experiment in display
type. Inspired by the use of a Zebra Name
Pen, the causual stroke of this pen and its
multiple usage is very appealing. The font
mimics the smooth, friendly strokes, into
a slightly cursive, yet neat handwriting.”

                 Andrew Leman

Andrew Leman was born in Denver, Colorado,
in 1966 and grew up surrounded by printing
and graphic arts. In 1997 he moved to Los
Angeles, California, and began working as a
graphic prop designer for films and television
shows. His work has been seen on the screen
in Galaxy Quest, Ali, What Lies Beneath, and
The West Wing, among many others.

Aside from his many other talents Leman has
a passion for type design that followed
his love of creating accurate and detailed
replicas of old documents. Satisfaction is
one of Leman’s most interesting designs;
a casual vintage script font developed
from hand-lettered words in various 1930s
cigarette ads. We particularly love the
exaggerated lower case characters with
their confident and elaborate ascenders and
descenders.
