Future-of-computers
Introduction :
• From abacus to super computers, watches to android wear, carts to
google self-driving car,1D to VR, native searches to voice
recognition,…............where's the technology leading us ???
• Today's PC's are almost made of semiconductors, metals & run by
electricity, but in future(2030) it's expected that computers may run
by light, store data in DNA and will be in the size of sub-atoms.
• There will be days where we can expect sub atomic chips detect and
cure diseases in our body with more advanced technology.
Contd..
• The expected computer models that will revolutionize the future are
as follows :
1) Nano(micro) computers.
2) Bio-chemical(DNA) computers.
3) Quantum computers and
4) Nano-electronic Computers.
Nano Technology :
• Also known as micro-computers, making the PC's thin and
comfortable to humans, developing into an sub-atomic size is the
main objective of nano technology.
• These are constructed such that it can work in most extreme
conditions.

• Now a days scientists are trying to make very thin chips, electronic
conductors, logic gates leading to no waste of space, enabling much
smaller devices to build.
Quantum Computers :
• In today's PC's data is stored in the form of bits(0,1) but in quantum
computers data is stored in the form of Qubits.
• Qubits can store 0 and 1 at the same time(manipulates 2+
values),making it powerful and fast.
• Hence it can work on million calculations at same time, leading to a
better time complexity(no hanging problems).
Bit vs Qubit :

• As transistor
replaced vacuum tubes,
qubits can also replace bits
but quantum technology is
beyond our reach &
expected to take almost 2
decades to come into our
hands.
• Advantages : cryptography,
A.I, image recognition,
better complexity of
algorithms, privacy is more
secured.
Bio-chemical(DNA) computers :
• Genetic material of DNA of every living cell has the potential to
perform calculations.
• It stores data by breaking chemical bonds hence resulting information
in terms of chemical structure.
• DNA might be integrated into a computer chip that could perform
calculations much more faster than most advanced computer
known today.

Advantages :
i) Size of the computer is reduced.
ii) As DNA has A,T,G,C as bases leads to store data in multiple ways.
Disadvantages :
i) Requires "HUMAN ASSISTANCE" all the time(major drawback).
ii) Having several ways to store data makes it difficult to find the
perfect one.
Nano-electronic computers :
• The present computers are made of silicon and germanium metals,
NEC will also be made of them but the chip size will be reduced.
• It's in the year of 1958 first electronic chip was invented by jack kilby
of 11mm size, at present 30 billion transistors can fit in our finger-tip.

• The complexity of programs, sorting time is efficient which makes it
faster and cheaper.
• Since Electronic computers are from 1970's(50+years),development
of nanotechnology is most significant in this direction.
Comparison of data :
Conclusion :
• "Computer technology is like fire.... it can cook you food...but it can
also burn your house down."
• Creating these highly technological devices might be dangerous or
helpful to people in our future. Computers are getting powerful and
some humans don't have the power to take control over them.
Making computers more advanced might seem like a mistake to some
people while some praise the idea of having tiny expensive
technology.
