Games Unit Lego star wars: the complete saga: IV section 1 BY: Sheridan
Work plan I will make a decision about what roles I will be responsible for; Functional and learning.  the assignments  are to decide what game your doing, make a group, make a blog, make 20 sentences about yourself, create a work plan, play the game and list what the characteristics of the game are (characters, etc.),  learn all the cheats and hacks for the game, find out how many levels are in the game, and try to finish the game. I will be posting on my blog every day, now till the end of the quarter. the posts on my blog will only be about the game I chose (aka: Lego star wars) and every thing I find out about the game. I'm the participant. at some point I will be doing a walk through of Lego star wars. this will happen when I’m done with my work plan. this will happen soon. I will reflect how good the game was on a rubric. I will present my walkthrough, and my notes on the game. then I will write a short/long reflection of the game and what I thought of it.
Game description The mane thing is to complete all the levels. You can do other things on they way, but that’s basically it I chose it because I thought I would be a cool game to play, and so did my team members I expected something along the lines of what I got. All the levels are nearly the story. I hadn’t played this game before, but it sounded cool, so I gave it a shot.

Rubric the following pages are questions from the rubric
Point of View - Awareness of Audience I will give the game a 4 for Strong awareness of audience in the design. I can clearly explain why they felt the game play, audio and graphics chosen fit the target audience, who most likely are age 7-10. this game was maybe a little to childish for 11-30 year olds, but I thought it was ok. The graphics were pretty bad, but whatever. Everyone thinks its ok too.
Voice - Consistency There is no voices in this game, so how do I really answer this question? They speak with actions, not words, which I find more funny than having words, seeing as they do really weird things sometimes. So I guess it’s a 0/4, since there is no voices, but the actions are awesome.
Images the images were horrible! The graphics were so bad, sometimes you would just walk right through someone, or you would get a nice shot of the ceiling, or something along the lines of that. The actual game makes up for that, though.
Point of View - Purpose the purpose is really clear throughout the game, except a few boss levels, which are pretty hard if you don’t know what your doing. Otherwise, it has a firm idea shoved into your head.
Soundtrack - Emotion the soundtrack has an eerie sound to it, and it’s all classical music. That’s probably why it sounds so eerie. The emotions are sometimes sad, the music stirs a rich emotional response that somewhat matches the story line, so I’ll give it a 3.
Economy The story is typically good, though it seems to drag somewhat, or need to do slightly more detail in one or two sections, or maybe even. more. I think this because the game doesn’t really follow the real story. It earns a 3.
Dramatic Question My Realization barely differs from my expectation. It wasn’t that surprising. My expectation was that it would be about star wars, and it was. I also expected that it would exactly follow the storyline, and it didn’t. is that what we were supposed to do? I’ll give it a 2.
Engagement The game was good, but I have games I like better. I mean, I don’t want to play Lego star wars forever, do I? it gets kind of boring after awhile, and I’m 11, so it gets really childish. I’ll give it a 2, for good humor, and because It gets boring.
complexity This game is not very complex. It is actually easy, once you get the hang of it, that is. Its not that its too easy, its just really easy for me, no offense to anyone….. If anyone thinks it’s hard. I will give it a 2.
Rules There isn’t really rules in this game, except you need the character pictured on the lock to get into certain rooms, but that’s basically it. No rules except that. It’s a -1.
Usability The interface of this game was quite easy. It seemed like I can learn as I play, and still be successful. I was able to start playing and dominating right away even though this is a moderately complex game and are were many options for control and choice. I think it’s a 4+
Learning Roles 1 slide per group member Give main points of how you answered the question in your essay Each one of the Learning Role Questions should was answered in the form of a short essay of 3 paragraphs or more, and should include have included evidence or support from your game playing experience. Touch upon your major points from the essay
Learning Roles Participant: What does this game mean to me? How do you relate to it – how do I make sense of it compared to the rest of the world. compared to the rest of the world, this is not comparable. It doesn’t really match with reality. We can’t shoot charged plasma particles from blasters, or use them in light sabers. We can’t even move a few miles an hour in space, let alone light speed. We also don’t fall apart when we die. We don’t have hover cars, but we do have hover crafts, for use in water. So not all of this is far from reality, but most of it is. The creatures are pretty unrealistic too. I can’t even remember their names most of the time. If you can compare this to reality (even though it doesn’t exist), you’d have to be a crazy person in a straitjacket, and has no sense whatsoever of reality (see( ) above).
Group Contributions I am a member of the Lego star wars group (which is pretty much me right now.). I am doing a different Lego star wars then them, it is the same basic idea. I accomplished a lot in my opinion, but that’s mine, so you might think differently. I think I would put more time into the operation, and ask my team mates a little more helpful and less distracted.
Reflection I think the class was pretty ok. Ok because its not easy working with a shipload of boys working around you, but I managed to stay mostly on task. This unit was fine. It shows you how games can be for learning too. It was school work because we had to learn how to make a walkthrough, how to effectively take notes on games, and what not to goof off on.
