Since the release of the federal cloud computing strategy in 2011, the U.S. government has aimed to transition mission-critical operations to the cloud to improve efficiency and reduce costs, despite challenges in security and expertise. Successful agencies select high-value and cloud-ready applications and align them with budgetary resources, evidenced by NASA's successful cloud migration for its Mars rover landing. As federal agencies continue to navigate cloud adoption, they face the need to adapt funding models and expand cloud services as the core of modern IT architecture.
