New Features
GEMS
Tunnels can now be intersected at the endpoints of centrelines
Intersections at the end of a centreline are correctly created and detected. The intersected tunnel is
extended to make room for the intersection.
Note: The extension of the tunnel to make room for the intersection increases the true length of the
intersected tunnel.
Drillhole header table names can now be shown inline
In the  Drillhole Display  form, when you add a new  Text  type trace label from the Header table there
are two new options available in the  Show text as  list:  Collar Inline  and  Toe Inline.
The order of the subtable tabs in the workspace Data Editor can now be changed
In the  Data Editor, when you select Options > General  you can change the order of the subtables.
Polygon labels can be now be displayed simultaneously from multiple layers
Each layer in a layer group profile now has a  Show label  option so labels from multiple layers can
be displayed. Previously, polygon labels could only be displayed for the current layer selected in the
active layer group profile.
There is a new Hide option for surveys
In the  Project View area, you can hide vertical cross-sections, deepest-mined cross-sections, status
maps, and infrastructure maps.
You can choose the sort order and display format of working periods for mine survey
There is a new survey  Display Overrides  form. To access the form, in the  Project View  area, right-
click  Survey.
The series name for section profiles can use alphanumeric strings
The series names for section profiles (Plan view,  Incline sections, and  Vertical sections) are no
longer restricted to integer numbers. You can now use more meaningful names to describe the
group of sections contained in each series.

Sessions files are enhanced to open data
Sessions files have been enhanced so that they now store information to allow them to open data.
When you return to GEMS and select a session file, GEMS uses the settings stored when you saved
the session file to:
open objects•
set the plane•
set the view corridor•
set the display area options•
set the camera position•
set the profile group•
set the display mode to wireframe or rendered•
set the display overrides for drillhole, block, point, polyline, polygon, surface and solid,
tunnel, and survey
•
display the list of recent functions in the express menu•
display drillholes and traverses using filters and display profiles•
display blocks•
display the workspaces in the project view area•
restore the state of objects in the project view area (as hidden or displayed)•
restore the workspaces in the project view area (including closed workspaces)  •
Notes:
By default, the functions listed in the express menu are not restored from the sessions file.
To restore the express menu from the session file, in the  Options form, select the Restore
express menu from session file check box.

By default, only the opened workspaces are loaded to the project view area when you load
the session file. To load all workspaces in the project view area from the session file,  in the
Options form, select the Restore project view area from session file  check box.
•
Text display is always off when you open a session file, even if text display was on when the
session file was saved. However, the label and other text settings are saved. To display
labels and other text after loading a session file, turn text display on.
•
Performance when opening survey data has been optimised and it is significantly
faster to open a large mine survey project
Data is loaded when it is required instead of when you expand the  Survey node.
You can choose the default number of working periods to open
To set the default number of working periods that are opened, in the  Project View area, right-click
Survey, and choose  Display Overrides.
Enhancements
GEMS
A new function to change the plane type of multiple selected tunnels has been added
A new function has been added to allow you to change the planes or types of all tunnels that you
select in one action. The menu item for this new function is:  Tunnel -> Change Plane/Type of
Selected Tunnels.
Create ASCII file of Drillhole/Solid Intersections creates an '.asc' file by default
By default,  Drillhole Compositing > Create ASCII file of Drillhole/Solid Intersections  creates a
file with a '.asc' file extension.
More flexibility is available when defining range options for Select Block by Attribute
Value
When specifying the threshold range for acceptable attribute values in  Select Block by Attribute
Value there are now three options:
Greater than or equal to  - Enter a single number to select all blocks >= the given value•
Less than - Enter a single number to select all blocks < the given value•
Between - Enter two values to act as the upper and lower selection limits•

Volumetrics Enhancement
A new option to sort the volumetrics report by a text block model attribute has been added to the
volumetrics profile.
Volume Depletion Enhancement
When reporting volume depletion, four new fields are available to report:  StartingVolume,
StartingPercent,  EndingVolume, and  EndingPercent.
A new type of model is available for Kriging sample variability
Block model interpolations now includes a new special-model type for Kriging sample variability.
A script is available to convert GEMS 6.5 and 6.6 databases for GEMS 6.7
In GEMS 6.7, the SERIES field of the Header table for StatusMap workspaces has changed from
integer to string type. Databases used in previous versions of GEMS need to be updated to change
the SERIES field from integer to string before they are used in GEMS 6.7.
For Jet/Access projects, when you open the project in GEMS 6.7, a message appears notifying you
that the SERIES field must be changed. If you select  OK, the project is converted automatically.
For SQL projects, the new  Convert 6_5 and 6_6 to 6_7 Datagroup.sql  scrip must be run to convert
the existing project to a GEMS 6.7 project. For more information, see the  Convert your SQL
databases  PDF in the  SQL Scripts  folder.
The starting plane name can now be negative when creating parallel sections or
creating sections along a line
When creating parallel sections (View > Create Sections > Parallel Sections) or sections along a
line (View > Create Sections > Along Line), you can use a negative value for the starting plane
name.
Triangulation Properties default button is now OK
During surface creation, the default button in the  Triangulation Properties window is now the  OK
button. when you press Enter on your keyboard, it is treated as if you clicked  OK.
Add block model attributes using an excel file
When creating a block model attribute you can now copy the attributes from an excel file.
GEMS Pack&Go now supports SQL or Access parent and child projects
The parent and child projects for GEMS Pack&Go can now be SQL or Access.
A confirmation form has been added for the Delete Key Index Filter function
When you select a key index filter to delete (Workspace > Filter Data > Delete Key Index Filter), a
confirmation form is now presented. When you click  Yes, the key index filter is permanently deleted.
The Slope of Regression is calculated using the block covariance not the block
variance
Previously, during an Interpolation run, the block  variance was  used to calculate the Slope of
Regression.  Now, the block  covariance is used to calculate the Slope of Regression.
BMC and Dynamic Shells versions updated
Block Model Converter and Dynamic Shells have been updated to version 1.2.4.
PlotMaker version updated
PlotMaker has been updated to version 3.2.3.

Colour Profile Enhancements
Colour profiles now allow for colouring by the month, day, year, or week from a date, date-time field,
or attribute value.

Copy the coordinates of the mouse pointer in the graphics window
When you right-click in the graphics window, the context menu provides the option to copy the
coordinates. The text copied for the coordinates is the same as the text displayed in the status bar
when you right-clicked.
Note: If you right-click on data, for example a point, GEMS does not snap to the data before copying
the coordinates.
Issues Fixed
GEMS
Volumetrics calculations take density values from the rock code of the mapped block
model folder for percent models
Previously, for percent models, if you specified a block model folder other than the default folder for
the rock code, volumetrics calculations would incorrectly use the density value from the rock code of
the default block model folder. Now, volumetrics calculations use the density from the rock code of
the specified block model folder.
Surface validation checks for multiple perimeter lines
When validating a surface (Solid/Surface > Utils > Check for Errors), the surface is checked to
make sure that it has only one boundary. That is, that the surface does not contain any holes.
When an intersection solid cannot be calculated correctly because of vertices in
intersecting tunnel centrelines, updated error messages display
The error messages provide additional information, and the vertices that are causing the error are
highlighted in the graphics window. You also have the option to automatically delete vertices that are
causing errors.
Cyrillic letters can be used for Profile names
Profile names must be all uppercase. Previously, when you typed a profile name using Cyrillic letters
lower case letters were not being replaced by uppercase letters. Now, when you type profile names
using Cyrillic letters, all lowercase letters entered are converted to uppercase.
The correct dongle or hardware ID is used for self-service licensing
Unnecessary encryption has been removed from hardware IDs when a licence is requested using
Internet, email, or fax.
Optech CMS XYZ V2.0 file format is now supported
The data from this file is stored as a single spiral of points.
Two menu commands have been renamed:
Tools > Optech CMS > Import Lines from XYZ (was  Tools > Optech CMS > Import 3D
Rings from XYZ )

Tools > Optech CMS > Create Solid from Lines (was  Tools > Optech CMS > Create
Solid from 3D Rings)

The angle of drillhole labels can now be adjusted
You can select or clear the  Adjust the text angle of labels check box, and change
the value for the angle of the text the  Drillhole Display Overrides  form.
Variograms with negative values are used correctly
Negative values are used correctly when calculating a secondary variogram map and variograms
along the principal axes.
Double-clicking a .gpr file starts GEMS and opens the selected project
When you double-click a .gpr file, GEMS opens that project instead of the most recently
opened project.

Using the CTRL key to select multiple TINs works consistently
When you are opening a TIN workspace and press the CTRL key to select multiple TINs,
TINs already selected remain selected when you scroll through the list.
When exporting selected tie lines, only the selected lines are exported
Previously, when 3D rings were selected, all ties lines connected to the 3D rings were exported even
if the tie lines were not selected. Now only the tie lines that are selected are exported.
The dongle drivers installed with GEMS support Windows 8.1
The dongle drivers installed with GEMS have been updated. Windows 8.1 and earlier versions of
Windows are now supported.
Whittle Block Export settings are saved to the .WHS file
When you use the Wizard to export blocks to Whittle, the settings for the export are now saved
correctly and can be used when performing subsequent exports.
Solid and Surface Precedence Rock Code fields are populated
The read-only table entries in the Rock Code column of the Volumetrics > Solid and Surface
Precedence tables are now populated correctly.
Block model view improvement
The icon for Grade elements in the project view area now shows the correct number for elements
greater than 10 instead of showing '10+' on the icon.
Standard elevation grids can be selected to define levels in seam block models
Previously, you could not select the standard elevation grids (SEGs) to define the levels of a seam
block model. Now, GEMS uses the mapped elevation attribute of the seam block model to provide a
list of SEGs.
GEMS crashes if the number of levels in a seam block model is changed
Previously, if you changed the number of levels in a seam block model GEMS would crash. Now,
you can change the number of levels in seam block models.
Measure Along Line stability increased
Previously, when using Polyline > Line > Measure Along Line, some users were experiencing
intermittent freezes in GEMS. These freezes no longer occur.
