WELCOMETO THE CLASS! PRESENTBY MARIE GLEMAUD
GeometryLine.planePoint
OBJECTIVES By this end of the presentation you will be able to:Identify and model points, lines, and planes.
Identify collinear and coplanar points.
Identify noncollinear and noncoplanar points. What is GeometryGeometryis the study of lines, angles and their relationship with each other.. .
POINTS Point has no size and shape = no dimension.
Point is represented by a small dot.
It is named with a capital letter. Example: . A or “Point A” .C.B.D
LineLine is two or more points which are connected and are endless in both directions. It never ends.
It is represented by a straight line with two arrowheads to indicate that the line extends without end in two directions.
The symbol for a line
It is named using any two points on the line or with a lower case letterExample: Line w or AB or BA . .w A B
PlanePlane is a flat two dimensional surface which contains points, lines, segments. It is represented by a shape that looks like a tablecloth or wall.It is named by using a cursive capital letter in a corner.Name: Plane Or plane ABC F. A B C..F
Naming collinear and coplanar pointsCollinear points are two or three points on the same line Collinear A, B,C and D , B, ENon collinear: Any three points combination that are not I the same line. E.g. points ABECoplanar points are four or more point to point on the same plane.Coplanar points: ABCDNon-Coplanar point:. .. . . A B C D E..A BD C...E
PRACTICE1.Draw a noncollinear point, J K, L.2.Draw JK, KL, LJ3. Draw plane S.4. Draw a collinear point, A, B, C.5. Draw point Z.
PRACTICEName a point that is collinear with the given points.F and HG and KK and LM and JJ and NK and HH and GJ and F Ans.K NM F L FJMGF H KL N J M
PRACTICEName three points in the diagram that are not collinear.231
