Install the Genesis theme without activating it. Then install and activate a child theme. This will take you to the Theme Settings. Make sure your RSS feed is set to active by accessing settings through Publicize and Feedburner. Genesis provides more widget options and flexibility than other themes. You can duplicate widgetized areas by copying code from functions.php and adding new widgetized sections in home.php while updating styles in style.css.
