Editor's Notes

  • #2: Welcome to Axon software. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the system.
  • #3: By operating in real time and integrating your trucking and accounting operations, you are able to do so much more than is possible with a basic, off-the-shelf accounting package.
  • #4: First of all, let’s look at how you move around inside the Axon program. The main menu screen displays the different applications. Some of them are optional, so you may not have all of them.
  • #5: Clicking on an icon or tab will open that part of the program.Let’s open the Business application.
  • #6: Once you click on a tab, it will be highlighted, so that you always know exactly where you are.
  • #7: Think of the left hand menu column as your filing cabinet. This is where you will store all your records.
  • #8: The middle column contains the screens you will use to enter transactions – Orders, Trips, Tickets, and Jobs.
  • #9: The right-hand column includes all your reports.
  • #10: For example, the Executive Briefing provides an up-to-the-minute summary of your financial position.
  • #11: Your Business Partners are the individuals or companies that you work with – your customers, suppliers, owner operators, and carriers.
  • #12: Let’s click on the link and take a look at the Business Partners screen.
  • #13: The bottom row of buttons provides you with various different options for entering, editing, and finding information.
  • #14: You can enter a new record.
  • #15: You can make changes to an existing record.
  • #16: You can scroll through your records from first to last.
  • #17: The Select button helps you find the information you are looking for, quickly and easily.
  • #18: Another way to find the information you are looking for is by using the Locate fields.
  • #19: Let’s enter a new Customer record. We’ll start by clicking on the New button.
  • #20: You can type directly into fields such as Name.
  • #21: Click with your mouse to choose one or more Roles for your Business Partner.
  • #22: Some fields are mandatory. You will not be able to leave this screen until you choose a Role.
  • #23: Some fields have pull-down menus or pop-up windows. Click on the arrow and choose the appropriate date on the calendar.
  • #25: Click on the arrow to open up the Customer Settings.
  • #26: You can now enter additional information, such as Credit Limit.
  • #27: Did you notice the reminder at the bottom of the screen about the default settings?
  • #28: Key information will still be visible when you close the Customer Settings section.
  • #29: The Business Partners screen has a number of different tabs. Each tab is an opportunity to enter different sorts of information.
  • #30: Let’s click on the Contacts tab.
  • #31: We’ll enter the Owner’s Name. He’s the person you talk to at Jones Trucking.
  • #32: The information you enter in the bottom half of the screen fills in automatically up above.
  • #33: Changes are normally saved automatically. If you’re going to be editing in one place for a long time, you can use Current > Save.
  • #34: Click on the Current button. Now choose Save.
  • #36: Try entering two or three of your own Customers.
  • #38: You’re sure to have lots of questions as you start using Axon. The buttons at the top of the screen will help you find the answers.
  • #39: The Help button takes you to a field-by-field explanation for the screen you are on.
  • #40: The Help will provide you with additional information to help you use Axon’s software.
  • #41: There are often links to additional information.
  • #42: The How Do I? provide step-by-step procedures for common tasks.
  • #43: Here are the How Do I? for the Business application. HDI ensure the Business Partner information is accurate? may be useful when you are entering Business Partners.
  • #44: Choose Contact Axon to send an email message to Axon.
  • #45: Axon may ask you to choose the Connect to Axon button so that they can see what is happening on your computer.
  • #47: When you’re in the Help, don’t miss the Getting Started section of the General tab. There’s lots of useful information for new users.
