This document provides an overview of global mobility in multi-access networks. It discusses the need for global mobility management to allow users to access services anywhere, anytime independently of location, terminal, or access technology. It presents several use cases to illustrate global mobility concepts and challenges. It also reviews key notions in mobility management including nomadism, session continuity, and handover latency. Additionally, it examines major approaches to mobility management such as 3GPP, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, and Mobile IP and their benefits and limitations for supporting global mobility.
