Global Resources in a Changing World
Synergies between India and Sweden. Sweden is a highly industrialized country, with successful firms like Ikea, Volvo, Ericsson,
SKF present all over the world. Paradoxically, its citizens here are not sufficiently exposed to the global world, especially India
and China. Sweden also is trying to attract foreign students to its shores, but has a branding issue and faces many
challenges. India is going through a prolonged period of growth, fuelled by industries like IT, Biotechnology,
textiles to name a few. It has a youthful population and faces interesting challenges of its own,
in providing skills and opportunities to the youngest world force in the world.

Panel Debate to talk about: What can be done by the city, universities and high schools”
to increase a flow of students between India and Sweden?

Half day seminar ending in an evening mingle.

                                                                                          Global Engineering Program
Global Engineering Program a program that finding the right resources for companies either
directly from university or with the right mix of experience required. A pilot project with Volvo,
which has seen 15 students recruited by Volvo and Dfind, in collaboration with Resource Point AB.

What can be done by the city, universities and high schools
to increase a flow of students between India and Sweden?
The meet is entitled “Global Resources in a changing world” and will explore how Sweden can benefit by providing
opportunities for people here to go to India for partaking in world class IT knowledge and opportunities, at the same
time attracting quality Indian students to its cutting edge universities for mutual benefit. The inevitability of close
collaboration of industry-academia will be explored for enhancing the attractiveness of Sweden as an education
destination.

Themes
How can students/labor in both countries benefit by exchange programs, internships and enhanced
labor mobility. How can one facilitate and increase the flow of quality Indian students from Indian
Schools and Colleges to Sweden and vice versa.

Issues
Indian perspective: How to provide education and work opportunities for
the youngest labor force in the world. Increase Interaction with Swedish
Industry for mutual benefit. Swedish perspective: Branding itself as a
education hub to rival UK and US –quality and price. Give students
and labor IT skills and outsourcing experience using India’s vast
pool of knowledge intensive industries.
