Once again Snow White is saved not by her actions or words, but by her looks
alone. While violence is shown to a far lesser extent in this film compared to

When you think of Hell, do you think of a serpent with the face of an honest man?
Not exactly your first thought, but in Dante s The Divine Comedy: Inferno Canto 17,
he helps us understand the meaning of this figure and the sins that are relate to it.
Dante and Virgil are traveling through the Seventh Circle of Hellwhen they notice a
horrible creature come before them. Later addressed as Geryon, Virgilgoes to talk to
the beast while Dante speaks with the usurers. Next, they must ride Geryon, guardian
of the Eighth Circle of Hell. To recognize the allegorical references that Dante uses,
we must have a better understanding of Geryon, the usurers and the flight with
Geryon.

Virgil encourages Dante by saying Now be both strong and bold. Now we descend
by stairways such as these (Dante), which creates tension and fear in him. This
shows moral awareness from Dante considering that he is still alive. He is asked
by Virgil to sit up front, as Virgil is sitting midway to protect Dante from the
venomous tail. It is also to be understood as Reason preventing Fraud, where again
we see the theme of Dante s fear of the tail. This time, however, he is actually
making physical contact with the monster as its tail is still quivering (Cherchi).
He uses similes to explain this fear he has inside of him. He also uses references of
Virgil s work to explain his fear, such as Phaethon who lost control of his father s
sun chariot and Icarus whose makeshift wings melted because he flew too high. He
wants Virgil to hold onto him, but he is engulfed in fear and cannot speak. This
shows how reason must be removed throughout parts of the story to show to true
horrors of Dante s Hell. Now, Geryon, bestir thyself; The circles large, and the
descent be little; Think of the novel burden which thou hast this shows Virgil s
understanding of Dante s fear as he explains to Geryon to take off slowly because
there is an actual human on board. Before this flight, Dante compares Geryon s
movements to that of a boat, backing up slowly away from shore. Here again we
see the repetitive motif of the tail, and it is explained to move as though it were an
eel. This slow take off has created a psychological suspense in Dante, but it has now
become a physical suspense as they are now traveling through the air which is as
thick as water. The beast swims slowly, making it a safer trip but also makes the
flight longer and more suspenseful. Descending into the Eighth Circle of Hell,
Dante feels a breeze from ahead and from below and realizes they are taking a spiral

minds. Some combination of the five senses is used to conduct information, so art

composer, a conductor, players, and a lighting crewall working to create the art of

When I experience Samuel Barber s Adagio with my brother, the message I receive
is clear, but it is not the same as the message my brother receives. It is likely that

The circular Flow diagram that I created above contains these sectors such as
Domestic firms, Household, the rest of the world and Government. The diagram
illustrates the continuous movement of money for goods and services between
producers and consumers. The household sector includes everyone; such as you
and me we are buying products from everyone and selling our work. So this is
everyone who may be seeking to satisfy unlimited wants and needs. Households are
responsible for consumption. It also owns all productive resources. The household
interact more with domestic firms. The Domestic Firms includes institutions such
as corporations and partnerships. Their job in the diagram is to combine resources
to produce goods and services. So this means the responsibility for this sector is to
produce. The Government sector which includes the federal and local government.
This section contains of collecting taxes. The Rest of the world section provides
imports and exports of services and goods. When we send money to firms we get
products and services. We can also send the money to the rest of the world and that
