To start a Google Hangout On Air meeting, you must: 1. Create a Google+ account and verify your YouTube account. This links your accounts so you can broadcast to YouTube. 2. Add your classmates to your Google+ circles so you can invite them to the Hangout. Circling is like adding friends on Facebook. 3. Start the Hangout On Air, fill out the form, make it private, and invite your circled classmates. Click start broadcast to begin recording your meeting on YouTube for others to view.

- 2. • Get a Google+ Account • Complete YouTube Verification • Start a Hangout On Air LONG BEFORE YOU START YOUR GOOGLE HANGOUT MEETING, COMPLETE THE STEPS BELOW! IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE STEPS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START YOUR HANGOUT MEETING!
- 3. STEP 1 - Getting the Google Plus Account 1. Go to google.com 2. Click on +You
- 6. Click “Create an account” if you don’t already have one with Google
- 7. Fill out the information form on the right then click “Next step”
- 8. Make a note of your Login information: User ID & Password
- 9. Click Continue to Google+
- 10. Click upgrade
- 11. Click Continue
- 12. ADS FOLLOW
- 13. LONELY
- 14. Click Finish
- 15. Click the Home tab on the left. STEP 2 YOUTUBE VERIFICATION
- 17. Click “Hangouts”
- 19. Click Start Hangout On Air
- 20. Fill out the form Click “X” to make the video private
- 21. CLICK SHARE
- 22. TYPE IN INSTRUCTORS EMAIL doctoralexander2014@gmail.com CLICK SHARE
- 24. Click here verify account
- 25. Click “OK”
- 26. You now have a YouTube account! It is automatically connected with Google+
- 27. Click the Google+ tab to return to the hangout page
- 28. Click Start a Hangout On Air
- 29. YouTube may need to verify the account. Follow the verification instructions.
- 30. Enter your phone number then click Submit.
- 31. Enter the verification code, then click Submit. 1 2
- 32. Once verified, click Continue
- 33. Now you are almost ready to start a “Hangout on air” You will need to add your classmates to your Google “Circle” It’s very similar to adding friends on Facebook
- 34. In Google+ Click on the Home menu and click “People”
- 35. Type in the name of your classmate In the “search for anyone box”
- 36. Click “add” under your classmate’s name and check which circle to add them to
- 37. Repeat this process for the rest of your classmates. Friend requests are confirmed by clicking “Have you in circles” and clicking add under the name 1 2
- 38. Once you and your classmates are confirmed friends you can start a “Hangout on Air” with them as participants!
- 39. Click “Start a Hangout On Air”
- 40. Fill out the form Click “X” to make the video private
- 41. Type your instructors email in the “Audience” box & Click “Share”
- 42. Click “Share”
- 43. Click “Start”
- 44. You may be asked to install a Google+ Plugin Follow the directions to install the plugin
- 45. Type the names of your classmates that have been added in your Google+ Circle Then click “Invite”
- 46. Check the box to agree to the terms then click continue
- 47. Once all of your guests have joined click “Start Broadcast” Guests
- 48. Click “OK”
- 49. Your communication assignment is now being recorded on YouTube. Click “Stop Broadcast” when you’re finished.
- 50. You will see this confirmation that your assignment is complete and now available for your instructor to view on YouTube
