- 18. How is the imagery collected? Satellites Satellites give us global views and that is all 2D imagery. Google Planes When we are closed to the ground, we need 3D data, that’s collected by planes. And constructing a 3D model. Using computer vision to remove overlapping in the pictures. If one computer process googles earth’s images they will take 60 years.
