For each part of speech, it gives a brief definition and some examples to illustrate how each is used in sentences. The parts of speech are: nouns identify people, places, things, or ideas; pronouns replace nouns; adjectives describe nouns; verbs show actions or states of being; adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs; prepositions relate words to other words in a sentence; conjunctions connect words or groups of words; and interjections express emotions or feelings.
