- 2. As We can use as when two things happen at the same time. Example: We all waved goodbye to Liz as she drove away. As they were signing the contract, a page was missing. As Kate left from her job, she said goodbye her boss.
- 3. We can say that something happened as you were doing something else(in the middle of doing something else): Example: We met Paul as/while we were leaving the hotel. Peter found a coin of 5 cents as/while he was walking to his home.
- 4. Just as We use when two things happen exactly at that moment. Example: Just as I sat down, the phone rang. The phone rang just as I sat down. Just as I left from the classroom, my teacher arrived. My teacher arrived just as I left from the classroom.
- 5. We also use as when two things happen together in a longer period of time: Example: As the day went on, the weather got worse. As I swept the street, I watched an accident.
- 6. As & When We use As when two things happened at the same time: As we walked home, we talked about what we would have for dinner. As they lived near us, we used to see them quite often. (because they lived near us) Use when (not as) If one thing happens after another: When we got home, we started cooking the dinner. When they lived near us, we used to see them quite often. (at the time they lived near us)
- 7. As = because We can use as instead of because but in a informal way. Example: As I was hungry, I decided to find somewhere to eat. (= because I was hungry). I cannot come with you as I am too busy. (=because I am too busy).
- 8. Since The word since is better used when referring to time. Example: Since we have plenty of time, let’s go and have a coffee. I have not spoken to Cecilia since she moved to Texas. I have not eaten a thing since Harold left me.
