WHAT IS GREEN SCIENCE?
• Green science refers to the design of various products and processes that reduce or
eliminate the use and generation of hazardous and polluting substances.
• It is the application of eco-friendly thinking to scientific disciplines.
• Why it is required?
WHAT IS GREEN ENGINEERING?
• Green engineering approaches the design of products & processes by applying
financially & technologically feasible solutions in a way that simultaneously
decreases pollution, improved uses of energy as well as protecting human health.
• It is simply an application of green science.
PRINCIPLES OF GREEN ENGINEERING
Conserve & improve natural eco systems.
Use life cycle thinking.
Ensure that all material & energy inputs & outputs are safe and benign.
Minimize depletion of natural resources.
Strive to prevent waste.
Create engineering solutions beyond current & dominant technologies.
Improve, innovate, invent technologies to achieve sustainability.
Actively engage communities and public in development of engineering solutions.
To create awareness among people regarding environmental issues.
BASIC APPROACHES
• Green engineering involve four basic approaches to improve processes and
products.
• They are:
Waste reduction.
Materials management.
Pollution prevention and,
Process enhancement.
WASTE REDUCTION

In today’s environment, it’s a matter of how long we live. Because our earth is in a
critical position due to man made disasters. So, “GREEN ENGINEERING” should
come into act to prevent & overcome environmental problems.
To overcome environmental pollution, the product should be ,
“REDUCE - REUSE – RECYCLE”
