The General Services Administration (GSA) is utilizing 5D BIM technology for feasibility studies in the $3.4 billion consolidation of the Department of Homeland Security on the former St. Elizabeth's psychiatric hospital campus in Washington, DC. Using macro BIM software called dprofiler, detailed cost models and design concepts were developed to aid in planning, including a significant focus on historic preservation. Additionally, a feasibility study for the HUD's Robert C. Weaver building aims to maximize space for 3,700 employees while reducing taxpayer costs, with renovation concepts currently being developed.
