Samantha Quiñones gave a talk on hacking the human interface at Laracon US in August 2015. She discussed key topics like leadership, empathy, listening, conflict, and identity. She emphasized that empathy is key to understanding people, as humans are individually complex with different biases, identities, experiences and philosophies. Good leaders earn authority through empathy and taking others to places they need to be. Diversity provides powerful benefits by bringing different perspectives from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Empathy is a choice to help others by accepting, sharing burdens, and seeing people rather than problems.
