Shivani Soni is presenting to Mr. Gaurav Sharma about handoff in mobile networks. Handoff, also called handover, is the process of transferring an ongoing call or data session from one channel connected to the core network to another, or transferring a mobile station from one base station to another. There are two main types of handoff: intra-system/inter-BS handoff which occurs within the same network, and intersystem/inter-MSC handoff which occurs between different networks. With reference to link transfer, the two types are hard handoff where the connections switch at one time, and soft handoff where the connections overlap briefly to avoid breaks during handover.
