Hazards at home
Burns
•You can have burns when you touch hot
household items such as cooking pots
and stove; electrical objects such as
oven toaster and lamps.
•Touching hot foods and boiling water
can cause burns.
Cuts
•You can get cuts from broken glasses,
pins, rough woods, knives, and other
sharp and pointed objects.
•Cuts can cause bleeding or infection if
not cleaned properly and treated
immediately.
Poisoning
• It is very common to children who accidentally
swallow or inhale harmful substances.
• Substance is a kind of material whether solid,
liquid, or gas, that has a particular qualities.
Examples of them are paints, laundry
detergents, cleaning substances, and
medicines.
Electric Shock
•It occurs when you touch an electrical energy
source such as open electrical wire or a
damaged wire.
•It can cause injury or even death.
•It is even more dangerous when your body is
wet.
Safety Rules at Home
1. Keep your hands off the stove. Do not play with matches or any
household materials that can cause burn and fire.
2. Do not touch or lift hot pots.
3. Put your toys back to their container after playing.
4. Refrain from touching knives and other sharp and pointed
objects.
5. Take medicines as given by your elders. Do not take them by
yourself.
Safety Rules at Home
6. Avoid touching or playing with harmful household materials or
substances such as alcohol and laundry detergents.
7. Stay away from electrical wires, especially they are damaged or
open. Do not touch them.
8. Do not touch the plugs and outlets of electrical appliances when
your hands or feet are wet.
9. Tell your parents about any open or damaged electrical wires and
outlets.
