Anju Bobby George is an Indian athlete who specialized in long jump. She was born in 1977 in Kerala and showed an early talent for athletics in school competitions. After initially competing in heptathlon, she began focusing on long jump and triple jump. In 2003, she became the first Indian woman to win an individual medal at the World Athletics Championships, taking bronze in long jump. Among other honors, Anju Bobby George has received the Padma Shri, Arjuna Award, and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna for her contributions to Indian sports. She currently holds leadership roles with the TOPS and Khelo India programs.
