Homework-Ideation

The problem statement
“Our multifaceted cool dude needs a
way to alleviate his tensions so that he
can transition smoothly from school to
work”
The context - need to fulfill his desires and
address his worries
 Exposure to thought leadership
 New learning
 Futuristic learning
 Opportunity to network
 Great human interaction
 Specific skills gained so better
job
Desires Worries
 Mindset change may be tough to
manage as circumstances have
changed
 Worry of it being waste of time
 Loss of access to contemporary
technology
 Loss of comfort zone
What are the most obvious solutions for this
problem? (even things that you know already
exist)
Recce
6. Visit the place and spend a week
experiencing it
College to proactively take these actions
7. Professor chosen to mentor
8. FAQs to be sensitive to these worries-
online forums to address these issues –
skype calls
9. Colleges to offer a contest to get new
students start interacting with mentors
even before they finally join. This
interaction to be kept confidential
Seek feedback
1. Alumni from office who have
joined school
2. Start a facebook page – to get
inputs
3. Talk to stakeholders rather than
just students to get their
feedback
4. Upload a Utube video with
questions
5. Students who are disgruntled
What can you add, remove or modify from those
initial solutions?
Improve the experience
10. Make the experience almost
flawless by learning from hospitality
industry
11. Customized program which
addresses the unique bouquet of
concerns of each student
12. Have a buddy program
13. School to offer a guarantee for a
certain amount of learning,
networking, certain skills –
otherwise money back
Integration of industry and academics
13. Company sponsored programs
which have a mix of work and
study
Future worlds
14. Build future scenarios –with the
school education and not.
Visualize life and write it down
15. Make it live – enact the future
scenarios
How would a 5-year-old child solve
the problem?
16. Favorite toy
17. Permission to take pet
18. Tell a story and address all challenges
19. Have a camping holiday
20. Go on a discovery journey
21. Convince friends to join also
22. Look for your cocoon
23. Imaginary friend
24. Wishing chair
Unlimited budget
25. Stay at the campus for a month- come to office every second day in a private
plane
26. Go for a vacation to think on way ahead
27. Employ the best consultants to tell you what lies ahead
28. With 3 D printing, bring the school to your work place or anywhere you go to
29. Spend a day with the richest/most successful man of the school
30. Create a pod in the work place where you go for 2-3 hours everyday – school
class being held
How would you solve the problem without
spending any money?
31. Role play to address each challenge
32. Social media groups as support groups
33. Apps to help address everyday worries as getting an online expense
tracker
34. Curriculum to ensure continuous feedback and hence changes taken
into account
How would you solve this problem if you had
control over the laws of nature (think invisibility,
teleportation, etc.)?
35.Virtual reality- capture thoughts
and address them as they
emerge
36.Experience the future – time machine
37.Invisible
attendance every
week before
joining – beamed
into class – like
Star trek
i. the most practical idea (one
that could be easily
implemented)
ii. the most
disruptive idea (one that would
make a huge impact,
regardless of how feasible or
affordable it is)
iii. your favorite
idea (one idea that you are
excited about for whatever
reason... you don’t have to
justify why)
The most practical idea is to create a
flawless experience by using the best
team from a hospitality industry
 Here the focus is not on just the physical comforts
rather it is the mental & emotional issues which
arise
 The designer can understand each step and the
dissonance & happiness connected with each
 Easy to implement as long as you get the right
talent.
The most disruptive idea
Using technology to look into the future
and then decide what works best–
While it requires a certain amount of
serious thought yet it is doable with today’s
pace of technology
It will hlp the student feel more secure and
also able to rehearse the future
your favorite idea (one idea that you are
excited about for whatever reason... you
don’t have to justify why)
 Create a pod in the work place where you go for
2-3 hours everyday – school class being held
Thank You
