- 2. Materials Required to make a hovercraft for your tabletop! 1. An old CD/DVD disc 2. A 9” balloon 3. A pop-top cap – it can easily be found on liquid soap bottles 4. Hot glue
- 3. Experimental Procedure 1. Glue the cap to the center of the disc. Make sure you don’t leave any gap for the air to pass. 2. Blow up the balloon till its maximum capacity and pinch it tight – DO NOT tie it. 3. Making sure the pop top is closed, t the neck of the balloon over the pop up portion of the cap. 4. Place the hovercraft on your tabletop and unscrew the pop top for it to really hover!
- 4. How does it happen? A cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface are created by the balloon. The cushion lifts the disc and allows it to hover!
