VOYAGE OF SELF-DISCOVERY (Part 1) When a man destined to be a Medical Doctor by profession is working as a banker, a musician working as a body-guard, an accountant working as an artist, architect as a secretary and a nurse working as a police officer; it is a terrible indication that things have fallen apart and the future is at the mercy of confusion and tragedy. In a society where the knowledgeable have been begging for bread, miscreants ruling as kings, the foolish deciding for the wise, the dishonest speaking for the honest, princes walking barefooted while slaves are on horses; life has become a domain of tragedy. And where these very strange and unusual calamitous occurrences have been taking place, there is a need for individuals to set the horse before the cart, fixing the square peg in a square hole and discover themselves. You need to discover yourself in order to rewrite history for better tomorrow and unborn generation. As the saying goes, when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. When you do not know why you are here on earth, you abuse your present and damage your future. So, discovering yourself is the way out of this societal menace. When you discover yourself, the young and old would look for you, the wise and the knowledgeable would doff their cap, the rich and the poor would knock at your door while the haves and have-nots sing your praises. Discovering yourself would make you take your rightful position in life, unseat the bastards on the throne, become solution to the societal pandemonium and a force to reckon with. American brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright invented and flew the first successful airplane in 1903. These two brothers discovered latent ability in them, rose up and contributed to the development of transportation. What a great discovery! They contributed to the standard of living of their generation and future generation by making what was considered impossible possible. Men are now flying like birds in the air. Their discovery paved way for them
- 2. and thousands of pilots in the world who ride on the wing of this glorious discovery. Furthermore, American Engineer Philo T. Farnsworth discovered herself and invented television in 1920s. This discovery, which you and I cannot do without in order to be current with timely information, created ample job opportunities for thousands of people in this present age. Alexander Graham Bell invented telephone in 1870s and turned the world to global village. His contribution to breaking distance barrier of communication can never be underestimated. Both the rich and the poor now make use of his discovery for better living. Johannes Gutenberg of Germany who invented the printing press in 1450 is not left out. His discovery singled him out in his generation, contributed to the development of mankind and gives us better way of documentation for future use. According to the saying of the wisest king in Israel, a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. When you discover yourself, the doors your certificate and academic knowledge cannot open for you, your gift would open them and make you sit with kings and princes. In a society where there is high level of value decadence - in which your qualification, certificate, and intelligence do not matter to people at the top but who you know – you need to discover your purpose. There is a king inside you that needs to be enthroned; the lion inside you must roar. Lay your hands on new discovery and become the talk of your generation.
