- 1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
- 2. BLOGGER - Blogger is a free website that allows people to create blogs for just about anything. My purpose for using blogger was to showcase my work and to show my progress from researching to construction. Due to previous experience during AS, I have grown familiar with blogger and, in my opinion, is easy and efficient to use. SLIDESHARE - Slideshare is a website that allows you to showcase powerpoints online either for private use or for public use. This was efficient and beneficial to use as it allowed me to embed and share my powerpoints onto my blog. I also helped me to organise my work clearly, showing my progress and ideas through the whole of my coursework. PHOTOSHOP - Photoshop is a photo-editing program that allows you to edit existing photos or create new ones entirely. Although I have used this program before, I still struggle with it due to the various amounts of tools and skills needed. However, it was extremely efficient and successful when creating my ancillary tasks as it allowed me to edit my images and layer fonts over the images and to edit in backgrounds. I primarily used Photoshop for tracing the main image on both my digipack and magazine advert. SURVEYMONKEY – Survey Monkey is a website that allows you to create questionnaires. I found this very efficient when creating my audience questionnaire, when researching what my audience would want to see as a potential final product, as it provided me with non-bias, honest and reliable answers which I may not have received if I asked face-to-face.
- 3. VIMEO – Vimeo is a video showcasing website which was beneficial in the fact that I could show my music video and example videos for my construction process on there. However, Vimeo had a limit on how large the files you could put on there which limited me to an extent. EMAZE – Emaze was an alternative to Slideshare as it allowed me to showcase my powerpoints onto my blog through embedding. It is extremely similar to Slideshare, however, it also provided more visually appealing elements as I could embed videos and animations. MICROSOFT POWERPOINT – Powerpoint allowed me to use sublte and simplistic editing tools which shaped most of my imagery for my ancillary tasks. Unlike Photoshop, it was far easier to use and supplied many filters to hide any “blemishes/flaws” in my tracing which I had done in Photoshop previously. YOUTUBE – Youtube is a video streaming platform which really entended my research in particular as it allowed me to view rock music videos which helped me to generate ideas. It also allowed me to post videos of my own, and unlike Vimeo, it did not have a limit on the size of the files. PREZI – Prezi, similar to Slideshare and Emaze, allowed me to create presentations showcasing my research and planning progress in particular. Although this helped to generate ideas and show my progress, Prezi was difficult to access as it is only accessible via Google Chrome, something I did not have at home, and even then, sometimes didn’t work on Chrome.
