How do I find the Hostid or Disk Serial Number ofmy computer system?
Solution:
Please follow the instructions below on how to find your hostID for your operating system.
WINDOWS
The hostID of a Windows machine can be one of two things.It can either be the MAC Address of the machine or the
Disk Serial Number ofthe main hard drive of the computer,normallythe C: drive.
WINDOWS - MAC ADDRESS
To find the MAC Address of a Windows machine,follow these steps:
WINDOWS 8:
1. Open up a command promptwindow by rightclicking anywhere on the Start Screen and then click on "All
apps".Scroll to the rightuntil you find the "Windows System"section heading,and click on the "Command
Prompt"tile.
2. Type in: ipconfig /all.
3. The Physical Address is the MAC Address.If you have multiple network adapters you need to use the MAC
Address of the network adapter that will be in use.
WINDOWS XP / VISTA / 7:
1. Open up a command promptwindow (StartMenu > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt).
2. Type in: ipconfig /all.
3. The Physical Address is the MAC Address.If you have multiple network adapters you need to use the MAC
Address of the network adapter that will be in use.
When you use either the MAC Address or Disk Serial Number with a Maple product, you mustremove the dash
marks ( - ) from the numbers.

To find the Disk Serial Number ofa Windows machine,follow these steps:

To find the MAC Address of a MAC OS X machine,follow these steps:
OS X 10.7 or 10.8:
1. From the Apple menu,select“System Preferences”.
2. From the “Internet & Network” section in “System Preferences”,select“Network”.
3. In the left column ofthe “Network” preference window that opens,click the name of your internet connection
(e.g., AirPort, Ethernet, Built-in Ethernet).
4. Click the “Advanced...” button, and in the sheetthat drops down,click the “Hardware” tab.The string of
letters and numbers nextto the "MAC address"heading is the MAC address required for your license.
OS X 10.5 or 10.6:
1. From the Apple menu,selectSystem Preferences.
2. From the Internet & Network section in System Preferences,selectNetwork.
3. In the left column ofthe Network preference window thatopens,click the name of your connection (e.g.,
AirPort, Ethernet, Built-in Ethernet).
4. Click the Advanced... button, and in the sheetthat drops down,click either the Ethernet or AirPort tab. The
string of letters and numbers next to Ethernet ID: or AirPort ID: is your MAC address.
OS X 10.3 or 10.4:
1. From the Apple menu,selectSystem Preferences.
2. From the Internet & Network section in System Preferences,selectNetwork.
3. Make sure the pull-down menu next to Show: lists your connection (e.g., AirPort, Built-in Ethernet). Under
the Ethernet or AirPort tab, the string of letters and numbers nextto Ethernet ID: or AirPort ID is your MAC
address.
When you use MAC Address with a Maple product, you mustremove the colon marks ( : ) from the numbers.
LINUX
The hostID of a Linux machine is the MAC Address ofthe machine.
To find the MAC Address of a Linux machine,follow these steps:
1. As the root user (or user with appropriate permissions) open up a terminal.
2. Type: ifconfig -a.
3. From the displayed information,find eth0 (this is the defaultfirst Ethernet adapter).

4. Locate the number next to the HWaddr. This is your MAC address.
When you use MAC Address with a Maple product, you mustremove the colon marks ( : ) from the numbers.
SOLARIS
The hostID of a Solaris machine is the MAC Address ofthe machine.The Mac Address of a machine is notthe
standard 12-digitMAC Address people are used to.It is usuallymodified and can be between 8 - 12 digits.
1. As the root user (or user with appropriate permissions) open up a terminal.
2. Type: /sbin/ifconfig -a.
3. From the displayed information,find the Ethernet adapter (it will probably be called le0 or ie0).
4. Locate the number next to ether. This is your MAC address.
When you use MAC Address with a Maple product, you mustremove the colon marks ( : ) from the numbers.
