How does it work - the keyboard

The keyboard is one of the oldest computer accessories dating back to around 1870. It uses the QWERTY layout introduced in 1873 to avoid jamming even though it is not optimal. Modern keyboards commonly use cheap rubber dome switches and membranes but have problems like ghosting. Mechanical keyboards use higher quality switches like Cherry MX that are more durable but also more customizable with options for keycaps, cases, and programmable controllers.
