StreamSweepers provides training to volunteers in environmental assessment, water quality testing, river safety, and macroinvertebrate identification and sampling. Trainees then assess water quality, count macroinvertebrates, and evaluate river ecology. They work to clean rivers of trash and improve ecological health, though more remains to be done. Future plans include developing public access points along rivers to encourage responsible recreational use and stewardship.

- 31. A FUTURE PROJECT – Aside from our efforts to improve the overall ecological health of our rivers, StreamSweepers hopes to encourage responsible use and stewardship of the rivers by all. This responsible use would be enhanced by public access spots at various locations along both the Rapidan and Robinson Rivers. – It is our hope that a possible future project of the StreamSweepers will be the construction and maintenance of these public access points. – The possible locations for these public access points are displayed on the following river maps.
