How to Add Answer Tolerance
for a Numerical Answer

When creating a new question, go to the "Math Tech
Enhanced” tab

Click on the “Multipart” question type

Once you open the question type, enter the question stem.

To enter a mathematical equation click the square root icon.

The equation editor will pop up.

Using the equation editor, write in your equation.

Click the “Numeric” widget

Enter the correct answer in the box

Then set the “Tolerance” level.
In this example the tolerance is set to 0.4. This means any answer response
including and between 15.6 and 15.68 will be autograded as correct. Any
response outside of that range will be autograded as incorrect.
All set? Click “Accept”

Now you’ll see the correct answer in the response box.

If you have other parts to add to your question, enter them now.
Otherwise, delete any extra test to finalize the question.

Click “Preview Question” to test the question.

Here you can answer and test the question by pressing submit.
This preview shows you the question as the student will see the
question.

Good to go? Click “Save” and then “Review” to revisit
the complete assessment or to add more questions.
