Introduction Greg Caldwell With more than 35 years of corporate investigation experience, Caldwell has uncovered million dollar embezzlements, exposed a rogue IRS auditor, stopped a $5.1 million insurance fraud and was the court-appointed investigator for the largest serial murder case in Colorado. His bold interviewing techniques have helped him solve many high-profile cases, and will help you to do the same in your own internal investigations. What Makes a Good Interviewer? Great conversationalists make good investigators. Turn an investigation interview into a conversation: Concentrate on what others are saying Send nonverbal messages that show you’re listening Avoid early evaluations - The Magnetic Theory of Investigation Avoid getting defensive Practice paraphrasing Listen (and observe) for feelings Ask questions Listen actively

When you are talking to me, do I maintain eye contact with you most of the time? Do I get defensive when you tell me things with which I disagree?
