- 2. Writing Exercise Take your journals out and answer the following questions: “ What do you think recycle means?” **Make a list of what can be recycled.** Recycle!!!!!!!!!
- 3. Objective: Today, you will learn how to recycle and reuse paper. The benefits of this project are: Saves your money. Saves energy from companies that causes pollution. Saves trees. Trees help preserve the global ecology. You will gain knowledge and experience. Let’s Get Started How To Make Recycle Paper
- 4. *Old newspapers *Blender *Corn Starch *Water *Measuring Cup *Cookie Pan *Large Bowl *Gloves (optional) Materials Needed
- 5. Directions: Tear newspaper into small pieces and place into the bowl. Pour enough water to soak the torn newspaper pieces, (try ½ cup first) Let newspaper soak for 10 minutes. Squeeze water out of the newspaper and put them in the blender. Mix ¼ cup of water and 2 spoon full of corn starch, pour it into the blender. The blender will be run by Ms. Her. After blender, Ms. Her will pour the blended newspaper into the cookie pan. Spread the blended newspaper evenly and when done, set the pan outside by a sunny area to dry.
- 6. Observation (write in your journals) We will predict!!!! How many days will it take to dry? What will the texture of the paper feel like? What will it smell like? What can the paper be use for? In the next couple of days:
- 7. Day One and Day Two Writing Assignment: Is the paper dried? What does the paper look like? What does the paper feel like? What does the paper smell like?
- 8. In conclusion, we learned: The value and benefits of recycling. We gain knowledge of the cause and effect of making recycle paper. We will now move on to study about air pollution in our cities.
